What's the worst traffic jam you have been stuck in.

I got stuck on 270 today during evening rush hour and it was horrible. I eventually made a u-turn and went back to the office and worked until i figured there was no way it could be backed up. Oh well I'll just come in late tomorrow.

The worst I was ever stuck in was when I had just turned 16. I saw an accident on the other side of 270 on my way to club soccer practice and a nice line of traffic. When pratice ended about 3 hours later I got back on 270 and it was unbelievably backed up. At the time I didn't really know any back roads so I had to stay on the freeway. I only went about 6 miles in 2 hours. I get to where I can fully see the accident and realize a semi hit an overpass and was stuck. They had it down to one lane going under the over pass. When I get about 5 cars from the front of e line they decide it was to unsafe to let any more cars through. This led them to turn all the cars around starting at the back of the line and have them drive the wrong way on the free and get off a onramp and get back on the freeway going the opposite direction. I ended up finding a way home on backroads. All together I left practice around 730 and got home at 2 am.

Just today here in Hawaii there was a HUGE traffic jam. There's only one highway (H1) that goes west from Waikiki. From 2:30 to 6:30 it'll take you 2 hours to get 15-20 miles west. Today a truck with a high to-motor type thing hit a pedestrian bridge and all traffic going west was shut down. So base was a disastr with thousands of ppl stuck on base and traffic was completely stopped and as of 7:30 tonight was only moving on 1 lane, normally 6 lanes going west. So it's been a complete nightmare.

I will avoid the inbound/outbound Kennedy (that's 90/94 in Chicago) like the plague during morning/evening rush hours. It's just not even worth it. If I'm heading on a weekend vacation I try to leave before 3pm or after 7pm on Friday to avoid it.

71 North Bound around Polaris and just north of Polaris a few years ago. I was attempting to merge onto 71 N, when I saw traffic was backed up. My guess was that there was a really bad accident on 71, because it was backed up for hours. The police were out blocking cars from getting on the on ramp to 71. Unfortunately, I was stuck in a row of cars on the on ramp. I was there so long that I turned my car off and took a nap (seriously). When I woke up, traffic had cleared up a bit but it was still slow.

90/94 Dan Ryan Chicago traffic is terrible on the weekends. Makes me glad I don't have a car here.

One time I was trying to turn left at a light without a turn arrow and a car infront of me didn't approach the intersection and I had to wait through two lights to turn. It was miserable.

traffic is the reason i consider keeping a cooler of beer in my car for when i leave work. Use O-Traps idea and put the can in a soda cup and use the straw.

When I worked in Orange County south of L.A., we made a weekly client trip up north to Simi Valley at 5 A.M. Took just over an hour. We tried leaving just before 8 once, got there about 11:30.

Four plus days in a blizzard in Calhoun, Georgia on I75 coming back from spring break. Supposedly a few people died in cars who did not have enough clothes.

People from the South are dumb when it comes to driving in snow and ice.

If not weather related, most likely going to some event like at the Kentucky speedway a few years ago.

My roommate has to take that every day, morning and evening. Sits in 1-2 hours of traffic every morning and every evening. Fuck that.

Got stuck on 23 south in Delaware 2 years ago during a light snow. It took me from 415 to 745 to get from county line rd to 270 and another 2 hrs to get to my house. Overturn semi and several fender benders.
