Hell of an effort by Duke tonight. Hell of an effort. To play in the predicament they were in, with the starting front court having 4 fouls each with 10 minutes to play -- also the two best players for them tonight -- the Blue Devils walked out of the Carrier Dome as a winner. Syracuse had a decided advantage down the stretch and should've won this game by double digits. Duke didn't retreat, though. I'm disappointed but also supremely pleased.

I thought Rodney was fouled on that last dunk -- the textbook says he was, as there was clear arm-to-arm contact -- but that's the way it goes on the road in conference play. Next play.

Blue Devils are fresh off their statement performance at the Carrier Dome against Syracuse. Despite three players being disqualified and the starting front court sitting the majority of the final 10 minutes of the game plus overtime due to foul trouble, in addition to facing career nights from Rakeem Christmas and C.J. Fair, the Blue Devils still had a chance to win the game on the final possession of overtime. It was a rewarding game to watch as a fan.

Wake is 14-8, with a win over UNC and basically single-digit losses to each Syracuse and Kansas. The Demon Deacons are much better at home than on the road, so I expect Duke to win this game by double digits, but teams like Wake that often play up to the level of their bigger opponents always worry me slightly.

The reemergence of Sulaimon and Dawkins has been huge for Duke. It is taking off some pressure from Parker and Hood. Hopefully Cook can rest up and get his ankle better. Duke can be a dangerous 3-4 (possibly 2) seed in the tournament if the stars align right.

Sulaimon, Dawkins, and Hood are top three in 3pt FG% in the ACC. Pretty impressive.

Andre has connected on 22 of his last 32 threes. I said it when he was a junior and I stand firm, Dawkins is the deadliest outside shooter in the country. There isn't a player anywhere I'd rather have taking a shot with under a minute to play down three.

He is having one hell of a year. Despite playing seven minutes less per game than as a junior, he's averaging career highs in points and 3-PT% and is just 29 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
