Good move restructuring his deal to get more flexibility for this season. We will see what type of player the Reds will bring in.

still hate the trade that gave up stewart, but i love this deal. this is something walt can pull off that i doubt any former GMs could.
not sure why they did this unless they already have a player in mind to spend the money on. or they just needed to trim payroll

In the past few days the Reds re-sign Nix now Rolen. I bet the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers are shaking in their boots now.

I have followed the link and it stated their that the Cincinnati Reds and Scott Rolen have agreed to restructure the third baseman's contract to give the club more payroll flexibility for next season, Under the terms of the new contract, Rolen will earn more that half a million signing bonus that the sides agreed would be deferred without interest. The club, in return, extended Rolen's contract two years. He will earn more than a million in each of those two seasons.
