Tigers up 3-1 in the 8th....Verlander gave up a HR to the 1st batter and had 42 pitches thru 2....but struck out 11 and went 7

The A's pitcher who just lost his newborn son....wow that was hard not to tear up watching him come off the field...I tip my cap to him.

Bad omen for the A's, both games they score first and the Tigers get the runs right back in the bottoms of the same innings! And an A's runner out at home doesn't help either!

For the 3rd time, the A's take the lead and give it back in the bottom of the inning, this time plus 1 for a 1 run deficit. But the next inning they score two to take the lead back in the 8th. The question is can they hold this lead for the win. If not they'll be down two games to one!

Sure enough the A's give their lead up again in the bottom of the 8th, then lose the game in the bottom of the 9th. Now they are in a big 0-2 series hole, but all remaining games are at their place. They got a little breathing room by betting directly into the ALDS, but have now used up that breathing room and are now back against the wall they have been used to being up against until the eked out the ALW title.

Tigers got this. They look very focused and it seems like the experience of multiple postseason runs is helping. Oakland is gonna be a tough place to win a game though

Was at the game yesterday, great atmosphere and the Tigers seem like they are on a mission and Miggy was pumped up today. The A's are a very talented, but young team. I don't think they have the experience to play deep into the playoffs. That said, I can't write them off, they are dangerous. The Tigers have set themselves up nice only having to win 1 game in Oakland.

Way too early to be saying the Tigers got this.

Lack of offense from the 6-9 slots has been an issue all season long for the Tigers.
First game of the playoffs the 8 and 9 hitters score two of the three runs and have the only rbi in the game.
Second game a bench player drives in the game winner.

Coco Crisp just made one of the top 3 postseason plays I've ever witnessed.

A little bit tougher play than Endy Chavez (not as meaningful)

The Devon White catch in the World Series.....I need to rewatch to judge...as well as the Roberto Alomar play in the World Series

Waaaay better than the Willie Mays play.

It might be #1

How much of a factor in his decision to go for 3rd do you think the fact that the relay throw was coming pretty much in line with the path he was taking to 3B was?

That's too risky of a thought at that time.....just stay at 2nd with no outs

It's just bad baseball.

I know, I just thought it may have added to his temptation enough to swing his decision to go against conventional wisdom!

My cable went out in the 7th inning, but not my internet, so I didn't get to see the dramatic come back 9th inning win by the A's but read about it on the internet!
