What is the official definition of the infield fly? It seems absurd that a ball hit that far into the outfield could possibly be considered an infield fly.

Might have been the right call but I was not call until the ball hit the ground.

A fly ball that a infielder can get to with ease.

Protest will never stand up as it is a judgment call.

It was a ball that could be handled by the SS with ordinary effort, and as soon as he determined that(when he was under the ball and calling it) he called it. The lateness of the call was warranted until the ump was sure it could be handled with ordinary effort.

No it wasn't easily playable IMO and the call was made too late. Guess we won't know the winner till noon

Wrong a infield fly is to be called right away. You don't wait until the fielder gets under the ball to call it.

That's what happen when you try to go yard on 2 straight pitches. A base hit could have tied the game.

It should be called as early as it is possible to determine if it was taking ordinary effort.
