Chicago is an elite defensive team that is tough as hell on the boards and are extremely well coached. Brooklyn will be a work in progress but I think they will certainly be more formidable than NY. That is unless Amare magically gets healthy and he and Melo can co-exist.

The East is Miami, Indiana, Brooklyn and Chicago (you have to put them there just because who the hell else is there?).

IMO, Philly, New York, Atlanta and Boston all get worse. I think it's legit that Washington and Cleveland could get to those last 2 spots...

Everyone said Brooklyn would be elite this year after a few off season moves and that idea crashed and burned. Now they pick up some vets who have the gas light on in their tanks and acquire a rookie coach.

Chicago plays good D yes, but they're also offensively challenged, especially when DRose comes back and their offense is basically "Everyone watch Rose dribble". And its not like when he does inevitably penetrate that he has anyone worth mentioning to dish too aside from maybe Deng from midrange. I agree with Amare needing to Gtfo though

The leadership that Kidd, Pierce and KG bring will be immeasurable. Granted they probably only have 2 years left in them.

KG at this point in his career is no better than Wallace was for them last year. Lopez is vastly overrated IMO and like Simmons or Bilas said tonight plays like the paint has an electric fence around it. Pierce should help them the most. but aside from that slight boost from pierce...its really about the same team as last year

Pierce is an upgrade over Wallace and KG is a BIG upgrade even at this stage over Reggie Evans or Humphries. KG changes life for them on the defensive end. Lopez is one of the top 5 bigs in the game, not the greatest rebounder but still a top 5 big man.

He's a tweener that doesn't play D and isn't a great athlete. It would be surprising if he went undrafted entirely, but I think people who thought he could go in the 1st round were the crazy ones.

CJ Leslie and Lorenzo Brown both still on the board from NC State. Kabongo and Adonis Thomas, too.

The biggest thing is when Nets get to the playoffs...they wont be untested. This team, in the same round, beats Chicago in 5 games this past year. KG and Pierce bring a toughness that is not there in everyone. Williams and Lopez are their offensive weapons, and KG and PP bring the experience and unwillingness to lose.

He's a first round talent imo, he has a translatable skill, scoring the basketball. If you can get a guy that can score double figures and can rebound then I don't see why you don't take him. The NBA is full of tweeners now, the first pick in the draft is a tweener.

This is all true.

But he is a top scorer in the draft. After the first half of the first round I would easily take a flyer on him. Especially for a team who doesnt need him (ie, a playoff team).

Plus KG and PP don't have to play huge minutes and be the focal point so their load will be much lighter. This is still DWill's team.
