Summer time we hung out at the park. Most of the time we would just cruise the back roads. Gas was cheap and beer was just as cheap.

WTF nobody has places they Hung Out at? So far we have a parking lot, park and my mom's house. Oh! Lord is the OC an extension of the Mall rats? :D

Guys we spend hour at the gas station, local bar that would serve under age kids, play ground shooting hoop all day and sometime in to early morning, $1.99 Grease Spoon Breakfast place, we even open up our own secret place in a old Ice House for the tokers. </SPAN>

I grew up in the middle of no where so really was no hang outs except at the local fishing hole. That was one of thirteen ponds with in walking distance of my house. Summertime was filled with baseball and staying away from the house as long as possible. When I did turn sixteen we would go to the park and hang out and sometime to the lot in urbana. For the most part though we just drove around on back roads in champaign county like said was talking about.

Had an old abandoned barn we called the Playboy Club (because we kept old Playboys there obviously). Took girls there in 8th grade and got my first under the shirt action. Had my first beers & cigars there and learned how to play poker and euchre. Made friendships there that are still relevent 35 yrs later. Some dumbass burned the barn down one day our Sr. yr in HS and I still think a good number of us wipe away a tear when we speak of the Playboy Club.

Now that what I'm talking about ... :D

I could tell you stories about the Ice House, Draft House and the Palms .. but that was back in the late 60's
The football coaches would call down to the Varsity Pool Hall to check on me and a few other guy.

HS: drove around the whole county and shot things -- there were only two places to hang out where I grew up and I didn't hang out with the rednecks (who had no life) or the thugs (who had no life)

College: dorms, lived there for 3.5 years until I graduated -- loved it and wouldn't trade that experience for anything.

Grad school 1: Dr. Lucky's in Mitchell, South Dakota -- great place to hang out, cranberry juice on tap (free refills) and $.50 wing Sundays and Wednesdays (also was $10 all-you-can-eat)

Grad school 2: a couple of places, Tu Pueblo and Luke's Bar in Bluffton, Ohio.

Other than that, I don't do too much "hanging out." Dr. Lucky's was probably the most I've ever "hung out." I don't like to spend a lot of money, so I try not to do too much of it outside of my own house.

Toilet papering different friends houses was a lot more popular back in the day too. Plus gas was a hell of a lot cheaper.

Fishing wise, I grew up with a former gravel pit (spring fed) that was stocked years ago. I had some lunker sized bass and bluegill in my backyard.
We got a bad flood, brought snapper turtles into the pond. Damn things wiped out the fish.

Getting on my bike and not being home until dark was the norm.
