IF I were a family member or friend of Chris Henry.....I don't think I would like this. Ocho and Henry are simiar in build and seeing #15 for the Bengals running down the field would upset me I think. What would happen if Ocho wore #15 and got drilled going over the middle and had to be taken off in the stretcher for precautionary reasons.....I think that would be very bad to witness (obviously for several reasons)

Also....I'm sure Henry might have some friends on the opposing team this week on defense.....that could offset them a touch maybe

Anyways...I believe he is only trying to honor his fallen friend/teammate....but I do not think it is the best idea for everyone.

Ocho Cinco and Henry were pretty close, so I doubt this is one of Ocho Cinco's "usual" things.

NFL is ridiculous regarding stuff like this. When Unitas passed away they wouldn't let Manning wear SHOES like his in tribute because of the contracts. Coaches had to whine for years to be allowed to wear a suit twice.

Goodell is a douchebag.

Goodell is just what the NFL needed when he came in. Doing a great job and holding players to accountability. But on this one...He is wrong.

If Goodell actually fines him on this he is in my book the biggest douchebag to ever be in charge of the NFL

Goodell has been nothing but great for the NFL.

It will be interesting to see if he does get fined though.

I agree that Goodell has been great for the league--but this one is complete bullshit. Props to the NFLPA for stepping up and paying the fine though--even though we all know Chad wouldn't give a shit about writing that check.

I'm well aware of what it is supposed to be about.....sorry I looked at the grieving family's possible point of view.

I apologize.....I should just jump on board and call Ocho an attention whore or call him great for the NFL.

I promise to never look at any lesser thought of angles.

Not a surprise, just continuing a long line of zero-tolerance/zero-common-sense bullshit from the NFL. God forbid a player have one sock higher than the other, but Bellicheck is allowed to look like a High Street vagrant every Sunday.

Goodell instituting a strong player conduct policy was good.

However, it's never been enforced uniformly, and once he flexed his muscles with that policy the power went to his head FAST and stupid shit like this comes up (as well as fining perfectly clean football hits).

I still hate the guy. Anyone could have come up with that player conduct policy.

I have no problem with Goodell and his enforcement of uniform policy. It's good for the league and protects the integrity of the brand. However, they need to have some sort of process for permitting exceptions that also promote the league and enhance brand image. Letting Payton Manning wear black shoes to honor Johnny Unitas or Chad Ochocinco wear Chris Henry's jersey are both good ideas that would enhance the leagues image (assuming the families of Unitas and Henry approved). Instead, they come off looking like cold corporate hacks that care little about the people that made them who they are today.

Ochostinko will not wear Henry's jersey:

Says he would have paid the fine himself but this entire jersey thing is becoming a distraction to the team so he will not do it.

Is it possible he was told by a higher up that this was affecting the team?

Obviously, Chad is now NOT wearing the jersey to draw attention to himself. Because now everyone is going to be talking about how he's NOT wearing Henry's jersey!

I understand what the NFL is doing by the fines, but their preemptiveness is what is bothering. Couldn't you just fine them post action and say it was an undisclosed amount.

When they fined Jake Plummer for wearing the Pat Tillman 42 sticker for a few extra weeks, that was going beyond what is good for the game.

Noshow cinco should concentrate more on winning games than his own self image. Give me Hines Ward any day over that dickhead.
