[h=2]Cal Notebook: Emotional Speech from Simon Captivates Locker Room[/h]
“He almost didn't play,” Meyer said. “I didn't know that because they told me all week he should be fine. He didn't practice much because of his sore shoulder. No ligament damage or something like that. When you say sore, for most human beings they're probably laid up in the Ohio State Medical Center, because that's how tough he is. He goes so hard.”

In a rousing speech filled with emotion, Simon had tears in his eyes.
“Boy, he just lost it in the locker room, as far as just sharing, opening up his soul for this team,” Meyer said. “If we have another child I want to name him Urban John Simon Meyer or something like that. That’s how much I love that guy. I'm not ashamed to say I love him. Love that guy. Man.”

Did he give his speech after the game or at halftime? Because I thought it was half time and they played like shit in the second half.

Well, it clearly said, "Following the game".

He had 1 solo tackle and 1 assist. Walk the walk before you talk the talk.

I could be wrong, but it looks like Simon's lack of production is because he's constantly getting double teamed.

I thought I heard he addressed the team at half time. I wasn't sure if he continued his speech after the game. Just asking for clarification. (I also had an extra word in my previous post somehow)Following the game, Simon took it one step further

He did only have one tackle but he was in the backfield the whole game. He finally got some one on one coverage instead of being double teamed. He is due for a big game.

The extra attention given to him allowed other players to make plays. Know the game before you shoot your mouth off.Tiernan;1273002 wrote:He had 1 solo tackle and 1 assist. Walk the walk before you talk the talk.

I thought Simon had his best game of the season, he was disruptive which is his job. I would still like to see more production (sacks, tackles) from him but he was much improved over weeks 1 & 2.

“Can you put a jersey up there or something that says John Simon, because that’s a grown-ass man, excuse my language. If we have another child, I want to name him Urban John Simon Meyer or something. That’s how much I love that guy.”

“It’s something I know I’ll never forget,” junior left tackle Jack Mewhort said.
Sophomore receiver Devin Smith said Simon cried.
“You love that guy. It motivates me, seeing a guy who’s going to play in the NFL and the way he works,” Smith said. “I want to emulate some of the things he does so I can make it there.”
