Here's the deal. I have AT&T currently. Wife has Verizon. She typically has better coverage than me when we travel, which isn't a huge issue b/c 90% of the time we're not traveling, but it does make you notice. My iphone 3gs is a TON faster than her iphone 4. I know she doesn't have 4G LTE so I'm not sure how fast it could be..but I also don't know how much coverage there is around us. Do I go with Verizon since it seems to cover more area than AT&T but risk having a slower network if I'm not in 4G LTE. Or do I stay with AT&T where I know I get good HSPA+ coverage already and no 4G LTE.

Our family when with Verizon ... those free minute between Verizon to Verizon family is great.
As for speed I have 3G and seem to work great my daughter has IPhone 4G and love it.
She lives in Chicago and between her Iphone a our Ipad we talk w/ facetime and it works great...

The problem is I don't know anyone with a 4G LTE phone around here on Verizon and I don't want to get a phone with slower 3G speeds just b/c I can have better coverage 10% of the time.

I had Verizon for years, got a work phone recently and got rid of my Verizon phone (no sense in paying for one if work is giving me one). Wife is still on Verizon.

100% go to Verizon, coverage for ATT sucks and to be honest Verizon 4G is much faster than ATT, and their 3G appears only slightly slower than when my ATT phone says it has 4G.

FYI, we both have iPhone 4S, so the comparison is apples to apples.

I get the same discount with either.. just never have had Verizon.

Verizon is the best cellular company out there right now. They aren't perfect, but I'd pick them over anything.

I'd love to switch to verizon. But it won't happen because we are grandfathered into the unlimited data plan and I don't want to give that up.

I am in the Akron/Canton area and Verizon works great for me. Great coverage and the 4G LTE speed is nice even though I choose not to use it most of the time.

Yeah, we were grandfathered in on Verizon but they stopped allowing grandfathering unless you never used an upgrade. If you ever wanted a new phone, ANYONE on your plan, then the whole plan reset to new data packages.

I wouldn't say I'm "bitching" about it. I just like having that safety blanket. I always check my usage and I'm rarely over it. But I do like the security.

I have AT&T and we will stay with AT&T. Never had any problems with them and we have good coverage here in Grand Forks.
