My buddy is in the final 3 candidates for a Graphics position with NESN (and subsequently the Bruins). He was told on the phone if the NHL lockout isnt resolved, the position wont be filled until the Red Sox resume up in April. What a blow that will be. Im hoping they have a season for his sake (and my impending promotion should he leave lol).

I literally could care less. Hockey could go away and nobody would even notice. Regular season hockey is awful anyway.

Somebody should probably go door to door to the six Hockey fans in Cols and let them know this.

What I don't understand is that the owners want the players to take a smaller percentage of hockey related revenue. I think it's around 57% right now. They want them to go down into the 40's, from what I've read. Clearly the owners are claiming losses, but they certaintly don't help themselves when I read about big contracts being signed virtually every day. Of course, if there's a lockout it won't matter how big the contracts are.
Neither side has much of a memory of the last lockout, which took away an entire season. If the NHL wants to be considered a major professional sport they need the fans. Lockout talk doesn't exactly make me want to go out and buy a season ticket anytime soon.

How much less could you care? You literally have no idea that your post is a contradiction. Well done.

Changed it bc it goes with the one I have on HFboards.
This is more a revenue sharing issue between the big and small clubs than an issue of player share of the revenue.
Better revenue sharing between the big and little guys in the NHL solves 90% of the problem, but they would rather take 100% out of the players hide than deal with the issue internally among the 30 owners.
League revenue has grown tremendously since the last lockout, the problem is most of the growth is going only to 8-10 teams leaving everyone else in the dust. That has to be fixed before anything can really get better.

I support neither side in this. The fact the players control 57% of revenues is unheard of when there's a union.

The NHL is officially locked out.
Multiple Russian/Eastern European players already have signed week to week contracts with KHL teams.

F both the NHL and the NHLPA. F Bettman for saying that we fans will come back because we came back last time.
Stop giving them your money. I'm pissed. Neither the owners or the players care about the fans. They won't learn unless you hit them both in their wallets. I'm don't spending money on hockey. As a former CBJ season ticket holder, no more games for me. No more merchandise. I'll watch from home on TV.

Let all the hockey stars go to 3rd world countries in Europe and play. Screw 'em.
As long as the plane lands or a terrorist doesn't blow up their bus, they will enjoy their time outside of the NHL.

Better not miss a single game this year. If the f***ing Winter Classic doesn't happen this season imma lose my sh*t. I mean sure we got the Lions and Tigers but the Motor City is Hockeytown USA for a reason. It won't be the same with another lockout. They can't allow a single game to be missed
