Is there anyone else on here who takes at least a little time each day for just quiet? Do you have a particular activity during that time, or do you just do nothing?
My wife hates how late I stay up, and she's been trying to get me to go to bed earlier (I tend to sleep from about 3am to about 7:20am each night). However, she goes to bed after 11pm, and often after midnight, and after she goes to bed is the only time I have to totally relax and have quiet.
I have a few things I'll do. I will occasionally work, but it will be on my own projects, and it will be at my own pace. No pushing or worrying at that hour. Other times, I'll have a cigar/pipe and occasionally a beer or whiskey of some kind with it (usually Scotch). On rarer occasions, I'll take a late-night walk or drive. Sometimes, I'll even just go somewhere where I know I'll be alone and let my mind just wander. Anything to just get me to a place where I feel like I can mentally rest.
So, are there Chatterers like me who need their alone time every day? If so, what do you do in that time?

Saturday mornings I'm up 2-3 hours before my wife. I usually watch shows i record on the dvr and have a few cups of coffee. On nights she's on call I have the entire house to myself which can be nice. It helps having that time to yourself to recharge and sometimes you just don't want to be around anyone else.O-Trap;1267864 wrote:Is there anyone else on here who takes at least a little time each day for just quiet? I dont have it everyday but usually a couple times a week will go out to my fire pit. Usually a few beers and a drink and do nothing but look at the stars and keep the fire going.

I don't know why that needed to be in all caps but I didn't think you were married.
I like alone time but not necessarily quiet time.

Wish I didn't live in an area where open fires were illegal.

Sometimes it's nice just to be able to have your own thoughts without someone else interrupting you.

I'm big on alone time. Dont really have a set thing I like to do, though. Last night I read some bible verses from the free bible I got on campus yesterday/

Quiet/alone time is boring to me. My relaxation is hanging out with friends watchin' sports or sittin' around the fire talking. However, if I were married or had kids, I would probably enjoy quiet time.

I do this frequently as well ... actually from a Bible I got for free while at college as it was being handed out on one of the sidewalks.Pick6;1267927 wrote:I'm big on alone time. I definitely enjoy (and need) quiet/alone time. I spend time in my room either reading or watching TV at the end of each day. I also have the house to myself a lot during the summer because my parents golf several days a week. I have always wanted to live alone but just can't afford it quite yet.

A little bit of everything really. Skipped around. It has a little index in it with verses to read depending on your mood.O-Trap;1267931 wrote:I do this frequently as well ... actually from a Bible I got for free while at college as it was being handed out on one of the sidewalks.

My wife and I walk every evening, but when she's got something else going I'll run instead of walk (we live across from a Metropark), and this is very peaceful to me. Also, on weekends I'm downstairs @ 6, and since she doesn't get up 'til @ 7, I'll drink my coffee and read the paper. I don't look for this alone time, but when it finds me, I take full advantage.

When things get difficult I will take an hour and go to the range, fire off a few rounds before going home. I do this about twice a month just to relax and refocus. I wake up early every morning, make a cup of coffee and sit in the back breakfast room surrounded by glass looking out into the back wooded area sometimes I sit on the back patio. This is a good time for me to reflect on my life, upcoming adventures and to be thankful.
I love the back breakfast room when a storm is rolling in, this is another alone time to enjoy the past, present and future thoughts.

In other words, this thread should be titled, "When does your wife go to bed so you can watch porn and jerk off?"

If you're under 22, sure, though I doubt that's "quiet."TedSheckler;1268019 wrote:In other words, this thread should be titled, "When does your wife go to bed so you can watch porn and jerk off?"
No, I just enjoy some genuine silence, or as close to it as possible.

Night time, definitely. I usually drink and masturbate. I usually stay up til about midnight. I awake at 5:00 am to walk, run, or lift. I love time to myself.
