UNIVERSITY SCHOOL SUNS
VS.
TROTWOOD-MADISON RAMS
.................................
They are playing at Kings high school, Kings Mills.
Baltimore Md. Gilman plays Moeller there at 7 tonight.
19-0 at the half
Coach: Roger Harriott |
Record: 0-0 |
Team overview: University School is one of the fastest-rising programs in the state. The Suns were in the Class 2B championship game in 2010, where they lost in triple overtime to Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic. |
Prospect history: Even though University School's history is fairly recent, there are some prospects making a name for themselves at FBS programs. Defensive back Devin Gaulden received some playing time as a freshman for Wisconsin last year. Linebacker Justin Cooper was listed on the two-deep depth chart for Texas Tech after redshirting last season. University School had six prospects sign with FBS schools in the class of 2012, with three-star wide receiver Macgarrett Kings Jr. (Michigan State) leading the way. |
Top prospect: ESPN 150 wide receiver Jordan Cunningham (6-3, 185) is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the state. He caught 32 passes for 574 yards and eight touchdowns in 2011, while his current top group of schools includes Stanford, Miami, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Notre Dame. |
New face: Running back Jordan Scarlett rushed for 568 yards and 14 touchdowns in limited duty as a backup last year. Now the full-time starter, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound sophomore could double those numbers. |
Keep an eye on: Junior defensive back Quincy Wilson is one of the top Class of 2014 prospects in the state. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior will be asked to provide help in stopping Trotwood-Madison's rushing attack. |
Other prospects: University School has major prospects up and down the roster. ESPN 150 defensive lineman Maquedius Bain (6-3, 285) has Miami, LSU and Alabama on his radar after decommitting from Florida State over the summer. Several players have already made verbal commitments, including linebacker Nick Internicola (Rutgers) and wide receiver Jalen Battle (Kentucky). Three-star linebacker Skai Moore has cut his list down to Rutgers and Vanderbilt and could make a decision at any time. |
Bet you didn't know: Harriott was the running backs coach at Syracuse in 2010 for just a couple of days before having a change of heart and returning to University School. |
VS.
TROTWOOD-MADISON RAMS
Coach: Maurice Douglass |
Record: 0-0 |
Team overview: Trotwood-Madison is coming off of a 15-0 season in which it defeated Avon, Ohio, for the Division II state championship. |
Prospect history: Since Douglass arrived in 2001, Trotwood-Madison has become a major player in recruiting with former players scattered around FBS programs across the nation. Michigan wide receiver Roy Roundtree is a 2008 graduate and a current preseason candidate for the Biletnikoff Award. Colorado linebacker Doug Rippy, a 2008 graduate, is heading into his senior year at Colorado as a Butkus Award candidate. Pittsburgh linebacker Nicholas Grigsby, a 2011 graduate, has been working with the first-team defense as a redshirt freshman. Wide receiver A.J. Jordan, a 2011 graduate, is on the two-deep depth chart at Wisconsin as a redshirt freshman. |
Top prospect: ESPN 150 cornerback Cameron Burrows is one of the top 20 players in the nation. The 6-foot, 203-pound Ohio State commit will play cornerback and safety at times to combat University School's spread offense. |
New face: Although he rushed for 326 yards and six touchdowns in the state final, running back Isreal Green hasn't received the recruiting traction of Trotwood-Madison's other top players. A strong performance Sunday could change that. |
Keep an eye on: Senior offensive lineman Cody Collins, who will be responsible for helping Green find space to run. The 6-foot-2, 285-pound Marshall commit will be going head-to-head with Bain quite often Sunday. |
Other prospects: ESPN 150 linebacker Mike McCray II, a Michigan commit, is another big piece of the Trotwood-Madison defense. Two more defensive standouts, three-star defensive tackle Jarrod Clements (6-2, 270) and three-star safety Reon Dawson (6-1, 175), are committed to Illinois. Three-star defensive end Tre Williams-Brown (6-1, 247) is the highest rated of the uncommitted prospects on the roster and is entertaining offers from Arizona, Bowling Green, Toledo and Kent State. |
Bet you didn't know: Douglass played 11 seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants. The former safety had six career interceptions and one touchdown. |

note* in Florida 8A is the big schools, 2B is not equal to Ohio DII in enrollment size. Florida high schools are loaded with talent this year. Meyer can recruit while visiting Gigi and stay in his lake house.

Rams have done a great job to make it a game. Suns turning it over; they need to let Scarlett run it for awhile.

Trotwood would be doing better if Jim Bollman wasn't their offensive coordinator. They still have a chance.

Trotwood is a shady school. Happy to see them lose on the national scene.

The Rams had some good turnovers in the 3rd, but they spiked the ball and got a holding to screw up the first one, and a couple mishandled snaps on other possessions. Then the pick 6 and coach yanked the qb. #10 sure isn't any better. At least #14 was moving it. Defense has shut down USchool this half. Good adjustments to stop Scarlett.

Nice return by #5 for Trotwood, bounced right off a good hit at his 30 and went 92 yards.
33-14 final.

1800 is pre-k thru grade 12. There is no more 'B' class, this year they are Class 3A, District 8, which is population 281-690. I think that is both boys and girls.beverboy1;1255319 wrote:university schools enrollment around 1,800 trotwood around 700
How is a school with 700 in Ohio DII ? I've seen some stats that say Trotwood has over 1000 students. http://www.city-data.com/school/trotwood-madison-high-school-oh.html

I didn't realize Ohio schools were that small. No wonder you only have a handful of bigtime teams. Then theres the whole private/public thing. Not really an issue down here, its shut up and play or go home.

It's not an issue because of the insanely lax transfer rules. The spring is like free agent season in FL.Speedofsand;1255423 wrote:I didn't realize Ohio schools were that small. Yeah then they get titles and all wins stripped like Miami Central and Armwood this year. When Dr Philips got stripped the county school board fired those responsible, that is progress toward fixing the ineligible transfer issue.
