How many years can you get away with wearing a favorite ball cap?

Occasionally hats get too nasty to be considered for wear in public. For those fashionable worn ball caps, do they ever wear out?

I have a 2006 ncaa cross country championship hat I refuse to give up. Still think it's the coolest hat ever*.

I used to wear hats, now I don't hope that helps :)

When I started shaving my head again about 13 years ago or so I stopped wearing ball caps, just don't look right anymore!

I keep hats forever. My wife hates it and tells me they're disgusting. I tell her to go fuck herself. She usually goes and fucks herself or someone else and I get to keep my hats. #Winning

I had a kentucky hat for about twelve years and washed it a few times a year. Only reason I still dont have that hat is someone stole it from me. I have a new hat now going to see how long I can keep it.

I still have my very first Duke hat from like 1996. I don't wear it, however, as I have an aversion to microbes. If that helps.

I wash my hats when they get dirty. As long as your careful they should be ok.

Apparently that someone wasn't at school the day the nurse came in the classroom hunting for lice. Not meaning to insinuate you have lice, but that's a ridiculous thing to steal.

As an aside, I wish nurses still interrupted your day to come into work to play around in your hair with half-broken popsicle sticks. I loved those days. It was an unusually pleasant delight.

I have a hat that I got in 2005 and I run in it. It used to be dark black and now it is a ligher colored black, a little torn, but perfect!
I usually wash it once a year...and that washing consists of wearing it in Lake James Indiana on vacation. It gets damned smelly, and crusty...a perfect mans hat!
