Good article on China: http://www.monocle.com/monocolumn/2009/12/08/fuel-to-the-fire/

Basically, China has contrasting incentives. Right now, they have incentive to keep ramping up industry without regard to the environment in order to keep their economic growth high. In the mid-to-long term, they a.) must reduce pollution or it will start wrecking their economy big time, and b.) they are one of the most prolific producers of solar cells and will be leading that charge, so they will improve in that respect as well.

These 2 advancing economic powers don't play by the rules. Why doesn't the World Trade Organization not start flexing their muscle?

The US should stop this cherade in Af/Pak and Iraq, and declare economic war on these slimball regimes. That's where the real threat to our way of life lies.

Ironically the the Chi-coms are the world's greatest capitalists.

They pay their workers squat, produce the lion's share of the world's consumer goods, have been buying up world gold reserves, have systematically purchased the United States government, and now laugh in the face of the environmentalist nut-jobs.

These things go in waves. The US is destined not to be the top dog eventually. Just depends when! And if it is our lifetime.
