Checked Wrigley Field off the 'ol bucket list this past weekend. Saw the Reds beat the Cubs on Saturday. What a great experience! Sat in section 518 behind home plate and was able to see the whole field.

Score board was nostalgic and cool to see, but I did miss not seeing a video score board and being able to get more info as the game goes along. It looked like the crowd was about 40% Reds fans, practically a sea of red up in the roof-top seats!

Side note: I could've sworn I saw Justin at the game. As we were waiting in line to get our Cubs first game certificates a tall skinny guy in a Reds shirt walked by us on the way up the ramp. Kind of had that deer in the headlights look on his face so it could've been him. He was also with a short chick (came up to just short of his shoulder). But she was wearing a Cubs shirt so it probably wasn't him.

Double side note: We also checked off US Cellular Field on Friday night... saw The White Sox play the A's.

I know... cool story.

Uh oh, you just outed Justin. I believe he was in Chicago but without his wife. Look for the ban to come soon and these posts to be deleted.

Ive been to Wrigley 3 times. Once was enough. It has history, but the place is a DUMP, imo.

Cool that you got to go though, it is something baseball fans should do. I prefer to just go to Wrigleyville and get hammered and eat good food with the game on TV though.

I was there on Saturday with my best friend. Unless you were in the bleachers area you wouldn't have seen me.

Wrigley rules but you've not gotten the full experience unless sitting in the bleachers, especially if a packed night game.

By chance ya also go to any of the bars across from Wrigley? The Cubby bear is one famous spot.

I agree that Wrigley is kinda dumpy, but I love that it's just baseball. No video board or between innings bullshit like other parks. No ridiculous music playing over the PA. Just baseball.

Obviously, the guy I saw wasn't you. Like I said, there were a ton of Reds fans there plus we were way over on the other side of the field. Before the game we walked over to the bleacher seats entrance but the only people we saw were the singers in the blue shirts filing in.

Like Layley said, Wrigley is pretty much a dump. Have to go all the way down to the first level to take a piss... and its in a trough. Not a fan of the trough! I've never been to a park where (at least it seems) that people move around so much! People probably move around just as much in other parks, its just the way the parks are designed, you don't see it as much.

We hit the Goose Island Wrigleyville before the game but thats probably something for the beer snob thread.

We were talking about this after the game. You are right... it is just baseball. Because there's no video board it forces you to pay attention to the game. Its a cool change from every other park I've been to. I'd definitely go again.

This was my 3rd or 4th time but I'm starting to get in to a yearly ritual of going up for a Reds game. I'd like to start catching at least two Reds weekend series per season up there. I just really enjoy the overall experience at Wrigley. Because baseball.

Did you have a frosty Old Style & Cracker Jacks? If not you blew the whole experience.

Old Style, a hot dog, and peanuts. I haven't had Cracker Jack's in ages.

I definitely had an Old Style. Cracker Jacks... nope. Ate the rest of the bag of peanuts we bought outside Comisky on Friday.

Last time I was in Chicago a buddy of mine who coaches at Northwestern got into the new Rooftop Overlook on Sheffield Ave. Awesome seats in Right Center even though its a bit removed from the field. We still had Old Styles and Cracker Jacks just to toast Harry Caray.

Looked like some reds fans also went to night games of the sox too. There were reds shirts in the background of highlights over the weekend.
