I am a reformed cigar smoker. I hadn't had a stick in about a year. Last fall I had a lung infection and gave up the cigars.
Tonight at a local festival I smoked an Arturo Fuenta maduro 858. I had forgotten how wonderful a good cigar could be.
Last year the 858 would not have been in my top 10 or even 20, but it was so good tonight.
Let's revive the cigar chat..

TB and I used to sit on the porch and smoke Cohibas and Fuentes forever. It was more about the the company and situation. I havent had a cigar since June the third. God I miss them both.

Is a joint close enough to a cigar?

I smoked a cigar once and couldn't breathe the next day. Had to get an MRI.

Used to smoke cigars frequently, but haven't had one since in Mexico in the summer of 2010. It all started, of course, in high school with black and milds, and then progressed into actual cigar smoking. I remember walking around Cedar Point one day when I was about 18 with my friends and thinking we were Christopher Wallace or some shit puffing on milds. WTF lol.
I have a sealed case of eight Cuban cohibas sitting above my head as I type. They look like candy bars.

I haven't had one for about 11 hours.
Seriously, I had a nice Gurkha Warlock this afternoon with a buddy of mine. I offered him a Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary, but he hardly touched it. I would have been mad if I didn't still have 15 sitting in my humidor.
The big kick I'm on right now is the Man-O-War Virtue. Smooth and easy, but it has some good complexity to it. I like that.

SHould a cigar be smoked fast or slow?
I haven't had a cigar for 30 years .... loved them when I did smoke and I enjoyed a pipe also but I don't smoke anymore. Those that do smoke cigar or pipe I understand your enjoyment and pleasure... "smoke em if you got them"

Doesn't matter how, as long as you enjoy it.Belly35;1245794 wrote:SHould a cigar be smoked fast or slow?

Fast or slow depends on personal preference and the draw of the cigar. You get a Cuban Monte Cristo, and you're not smoking that "fast" no matter how hard you try. It's like trying to suck an orange through a straw.Belly35;1245794 wrote:SHould a cigar be smoked fast or slow?

Get a nice, easy draw, though, and it's all about preference.

Rings, I found a Java Mint that you asked about once. I haven't smoked it yet. I'll be having some cigars more often since my work hours have changed.

Just grabbed one this past weekend cause I 'ain't skeered.' Just bought it for the novelty of it. If it's crappy maybe I'll let The Wife have it. Yea she does smoke an occasional cigar.
