http://www.bgr.com/2012/08/06/demonoid-shut-down-file-sharing-piracy/the Ukrainian government has shuttered popular file-sharing website Demonoid. An executive for the company that hosted the service, ColoCall, confirmed that authorities seized information from Demonoid’s servers and the service provider was forced to terminate the agreement it had with the site
What are people using now?

This makes me happy that I invested in 4TB of space and never delete any downloads. I have ~1.7TB of movies/shows; if they ever come looking...I'm toast.

Other than http://kat.ph/ I also use...
http://torrentz.eu/ decent torrent meta search
http://thepiratebay.se/ still doin' their thing.
Neither are as good as Demonoid, but still get it done.

archive.org has begun seeding millions of lost bittorrent files... so you can look there for more of the obscure stuff.

I don't download much but demonoid was my go-to site. This sucks.

Yeah I always looked first on demonoid just because it was a private tracker. It didn't have the largeset selection like bigger trackers such as the pirate bay, but I liked to go there first. I would definitely go with The Pirate Bay now because they are to torrents like Rapidshare is to cyber-locker sites. They've been harder to kill than cockroaches.

BTW, I am going to move this to the basement later today. I am pretty sure the goog doesn't like when you link to torrent sites. Won't be helpful since I am still trying to get adsense back.
