Does anyone have a membership to a wholesale club? I am thinking about getting a membership. What are your experiences, what are some of the things you always buy there?

Have one for Sam's. Usually we buy bulk of the non-perishable items (toilet paper, towels, canned stuff) and use it a lot for gas. Have found that they are typically hours if not a day behind when they change gas prices. So once I realize the rest of the town usually has upped the gas prices, Sam's is still at the discounted price and head there.

Makes sense to drive to the other side of town to save $1.00 on gas.Benny The Jet;1241522 wrote:So once I realize the rest of the town usually has upped the gas prices, Sam's is still at the discounted price and head there.

Sam's Club. Because I've never been to the other 2, not because I love Sam's Club.

Sam's Club is nice, for the reasons Benny the Jet stated. If you have an extra freezer, they have good prices on frozen goods. I've never been to Costco, and never heard of JB's Wholesale.

Have a membership to Sam's and Costco, but like Sam's better. My wife likes Costco's bakery for cakes, etc. for different occassions, but for everything else it's Sam's Club...hands down.

Costco is awesome.
Their prices are pretty good and basically a steal with the coupons. I remember we went one time and spent ~ the same as we do every 2 weeks for groceries (150.00) and were good for almost 2 months because of all the stuff we bought; besides milk.
Gas is also ALWAYS .20-.30 cheaper on gas. The rest of Toledo was 3.88 this past weekend and Costco was 3.66.
It really comes in hand for the cookouts/parties we have in the summer time.

I'm a Sams Club member and I frequent them here in Indianapolis. They are down the road from a huge ass Costco, regular turf war.

Costco because they pay their employees a lot better than Sam's does. One thing I hate about both is the long check out lines.

Sam's has the self-checkout lines now, which helps immensely...not sure if Costco does or not?Emmett Brown;1242120 wrote:Costco because they pay their employees a lot better than Sam's does. One thing I hate about both is the long check out lines.

Also I just realized today that I got double charged on trash bags there Sunday... boooo. She must have inadvertently rescanned it when she picked them up to put in the box we had pulled. Not even worth the drive from Wooster to Ontario, hopefully they won't mind refunding me in like 5 weeks.

Is Costco worth it for a family of 2? I wanted to try it out but when I went there they were pushing a $110 membership which seems totally crazy to pay for a discount. I think the basic membership is $55. Is the savings worth it to buy bulk paper products and other stuff?

I've been with Costco for years, but I'm thinking about looking into Sam's.
