Me too. They were just fined for importing banned wood.

Without commenting on the penalty (which is kind of petty/trivial on both sides)...The odd thing about this is, if I'm reading it right, had the wood been imported finished it was ok. But because it was imported unfinished it's a violation. Are you kidding me?
Then you realize this is the same sort of nonsense protectionist policies that liberals would pass to "save" American jobs.

Thank for reading the article. Unfinished it is a no no, Finished and it is OK
First you would think that if Gibson could finish this wood themselves it created a job... very true (it did and it keeps the quality of the product to a better standard) However this wood has to be finish in some Third world country to be approved... does that even make senses ??????
This is the bullshit .. Myself in business deal with and other manufacturing business have to spend hours, days and weeks to get answers to .regulation like this that just spring up form no where .. From idiots who don't know the answers.
It took me 8 phone calls and two months, contacting from local and state government operation to my Congressman and Senator to a Federal depart head and finally a lone secretary who in a matter of 10 minute provide me with an explanation, verbal example and e mailed me a PDF document. </SPAN>
Topic : What constitutes “Made in America” what are the rules and guideline of having a product manufactured with Made in America labeled….. Note: what you think and want is reality via our government regulation is crazy. </SPAN>

Based on your clear, coherent posts on the OC, I would dearly love to hear your phone conversations with government officials. I'm not surprised at all about the 8 phone calls and 2 months.

If you reverse the party associations and it was the Democrats complaining about a situation like this you guys would all be "well you knew the rules you should get them changed or operate within them".gut;1241565 wrote:Without commenting on the penalty (which is kind of petty/trivial on both sides)...The odd thing about this is, if I'm reading it right, had the wood been imported finished it was ok. No, I call it like I see it. You would be wrong to assume I'm a Republican. I'm a fiscal conservative, which is about all I have in common with the party (if such people still existed in the party).I Wear Pants;1242313 wrote:If you reverse the party associations and it was the Democrats complaining about a situation like this you guys would all be "well you knew the rules you should get them changed or operate within them".
This is enforcement of another country's protectionist policy. The govt has done it's job here. I disagree with protectionist policies. So maybe you should read my post a few more times until you understand what is being said.

Ok then my post doesn't apply to you but it does apply to others. If people associate strongly with a party I assume there's something wrong with their thought process to be honest.gut;1242315 wrote:No, I call it like I see it. Yeah, I don't know how you can if you have your own opinions. I lean progressive on most social issues, libertarian on others. I'm actually not opposed to social insurance and think it's needed in many cases, but implicit in an insurance contract is that your pay SOMETHING in the way of premiums.I Wear Pants;1242406 wrote:Ok then my post doesn't apply to you but it does apply to others.
