DD has done all he could to keep the Tigers in the race. Super front office managing. Not that it matters presently, but it all started when somehow he convinced the future hall-of-famer Pudge Rodriques to sign with Detroit, then Carlos Giullen and Maglio Ordonez. Then Cabrera, Valverde, Benoit, Martinez, Fister, Jackson, among others that don't come to mind right away. More recently Fielder then Sanchez and Infante have been acquired. Has any other GM matched or surpassed his dealings?

It helps when you have an owner who is about to kick the bucket who desperately wants to bring the City of Detroit another World Series Ring. I think he is in full on 'you can't take it with you' mode when it comes to the Tigers. He is spending like its going out of style.

Detroit is also a much bigger market than Cleveland though too. I mean the Detroit-Ann Arbor area has 5.2 million people compared to the Greater Cleveland area which has only 2 million. DD is a tremendous GM though and despite a few mistakes (Renteria,Willis) he's done a fabulous job with this team and should expect nothing less than a AL Central Title

What does any of the previous post have to do with Cleveland? lol

Dombrowsky has done an amazing job, but Cashman is in the same type of boat. Do what you have to to win, and has been much more successful than DD. So Ill give him the nod over the same timeframe. Also, whoever is with the Phils, and Nolan Ryan (I know he is the President) has done a masterful job down in Texas over the last 5 years building that team up.

5.2 million to 2 million is bullshit.

Well you gotta realize that all those people during the "white flight" moved from Detroit to the burbs basically and Detroit had close to 2 million in the city limits alone. But Canton Township, Clinton Township, Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Livonia, Sterling Heights, Troy, Warren and Westland all have close to 100,000 people (Sterling Heights & Warren have 145,000) and 15 other ones have between 45-80,000 people.

Doesn't matter big market, small market. MR "I" wants a ring. DD knows how to spend and deal. Hope Tiger fans understand and appreciate all this. And by the looks of the attendance and the fan enthusiasm.........well they are fast becoming the 10th man at Comerica.

It's not 5.2 to 2. Plenty of people in northeast Ohio. And....there's plenty of rich people in the Eastern suburbs of Cleveland. I mean...really wealthy people. The tribe attendence woes is the fault of the Cleveland fans...more than Dolan's cheap ass.

It's not just the attendance, it's merchandizing and what the market is worth in tv ratings. But haha yeah I was talking to my buddy who's an Indians and he said just imagine if Lee and Sabathia never left. It wasn't that long ago the Indians won the division and were competitive
