I noticed there hasn't been much activity there. Lotz hasn't been doing any threads. Should someone else be put in charge of that? Hell, there isn't even any up for the Olympics.

We need more bookies, and/or us mods need to try and start making events in there.

I can see lotz being overwhelmed, to look up proper odds and create the threads for the events is pretty time consuming. I was a bookie before being promoted to mod and you can blow upwards of a half hour per thread created

I go back to my theory regarding this last time it was brought up. I think just the over saturation of having stuff all the time leads people to not play or care about it. Save it for bigger events or games people actually care a lot about (not just a few but the majority of the site).

For example, do OSU and UM Football games. Maybe a few big games from schools outside conference like Texas v. OU. Big Bowl games, (BCS games and national championship, and any other GOOD bowl match ups). NCAA BBall tourny, few big basketball games, but not every OSU game.

NFL games for Steelers, Bengals and Cleveland. Big match ups outside of that like Patriots/Giants etc and then NFL playoffs. Only marquee NBA games.

I think the overabundance of meaningless games and events just over saturates the whole thing and people lose interest.

Basically if a game doesn't warrant it's own thread, then it's probably not important enough. And in the OP of each thread we can insert a link to the respective vbookie thread to encourage people to go.

Got this PM from said_auoita this morning:
Hi ya. No doubt I love the "OC" forum website so please don't take this PM as anything more than an opinion.

vBookie is unique to your website, at least every other sports forum I troll has nothing like it. Unfortunately vBookie is treated like a "red headed step child" around here.

I remember their's some reset or "vBookie period" something? Don't know the technical side of it. Just thinking business side.....the vBookie should be a sales pitch for this site!
*Lots of various sporting events are missed out in VBookie. *

Clean out the cobwebs! Old threads from May in vBookie looks messy.
What ever happened with vBookie getting another helping hand?

I'm not meaning to sound like I'm kickin' you or karen_lotz in the nuts, just sharing my opinion that vBookie is way under developed.

"Hope this helps" (lol)

Thanks Justin. ;)

I generally disagree with fly. It hasn't been saturated with wagers since like late 2010, so that has never been an issue.

It may not need a baseball game everyday, but there should be at least a few things per week, and then longer term ones outstanding like predicting national champs and shit.

It just seems to me like lotz is getting burnt out on it maybe. Hell, the last vBookie thread he made was from July 17th. Of course, he had the time to reply with a "GFY" in the vBookie thread when said asked a simple question though.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's burnt out. It's a lot of work for 1 guy

Not over saturated with wagers, over saturated with topics. I really do think by limiting the things to bet on more people would play. I do agree that long term predictions on big stuff should work as well.

I think my suggestion speaks to this as well. If we're only doing a few games every week it would be a lot less work for whoever does it.

Admittedly, I think part of it is that it is under the "College and Pro Sports" section. Not saying it doesn't fit, as it does, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who would use it more often if it were higher up on the Forums page, because I never venture into the snake pits of the college or pro sports forums. Not to mention that a rule of thumb for website marketing is to have those things which you want people to see and use as high on the page as possible -- "above the fold."

There hasn't been a single event listed since this thread started, and users are bumping old threads to be smartasses. We should probably at least develop a plan/solution

So after we get the ads back, might want to address the fact that we had no NCAA games on there this week and most likely won't have any NCAA or NFL games this week.

Should I put out a feeler for another vbookie and can lotz, or just can lotz and moderators (that want to) can double as bookies?

I'd help out...but I know nothing about the shit. Obviously lotz no longer has the desire to do it since his last post in the vbookie thread was on August 2nd which was telling said to go fuck himself because he asked about finding someone else to do it. We've had the Olympics, start of football, and no baseball betting threads since mid July. I think it's time to find someone else to do it.

I know nothing about odds and so on, I'd say fire lotz and find a few others to do it

I moved vBookie into the top grouping of threads. I've also "fired" lotz and asked for someone else interested. We'll see if we get any hits.
