OUch. Brings back memories of a game I was pitching where th first baseman came up the line to get an errant throw and colllided with the runner and dislocated his elbow. It was nasty looking just hanging there.

That was a great 3rd set. Ross and Kessy did what needed to be done.

But I will give props to the Spanish team for playing hard in their bikini bottoms that might as well have been thongs.

I was rooting for Gabby ever since I watched the trials. Was never big on Wieber. Gabby is just a lot of fun to watch.

If both Aly and the Russian have a score of 59.566, Why is Aly 4th but the Russian gets a medal? Is there some kind of tie breaker?

I agree that Gabby is fun to watch. Fearless.

How dumb is it though that the Olympic champions can only put 2 in the all-around and other countries get to put in girls that have no shot at a medal? It should be the top 16 in the world period, not the 2 best from each country.

Thats what they said, but no clue what it was. Why not just give 2 bronze medals?

Because the olympics hasn't adopted the pussy "everyone should get a prize" mentality that was developed in the states.

The reasoning is to help grow the sport in other countries. This happens in many sports not just gymnastics.

My favorite example is looking at some of the early heats in swimming that are never aired. Some countries that are trying to grow their program send swimmers that aren't that fast in the easier event like the 100 Free. Technically it's easy, and it's a marquee event so countries will send swimmers that really aren't much better than HS swimmers here in the US.

For example an alright 100yard free time for a high school swimmer that is close to making the state meet is 48.00 (Slowest to make the state meet this year was 47.70). That converted to LCM is 54.98. That time would be faster than the swimmers in 48-56 position in the 100 Free.

Those swimmers are representing countries such as Maldives (an Island Country in the Indian Ocean), Pakistan, Tanzania, etc.

Essentially there are swimmers swimming at the Olympics who couldn't even make the Ohio High School State Meet.

The point is, the countries that are at the top of sports are limited to only the best of the best, and allow space for countries trying to develop sports some spotlight and a reward their athletes with the chance to participate.

Ya, they would have advanced, but they would have lost their potential 4th overall seed and received a lower one. It was definitely important to win for seeding and confidence purposes.

Also, USA Men's Waterpolo team is crushing Great Britain 8-1.

Edit: 8-2 right after I posted.

China Cheated at cycling too now and got relegated to a silver after originally winning gold (Germany gets gold now).

I guess they didn't complete the pass within the correct area which is an auto-disqualification.

Geez, China's just full of cheaters! First Badminton, now Indoor Cycling!

I saw this morning that the experts think only 10% of the cheaters in the olympics get caught.

USA Men's Waterpolo beats Great Britain 13-7 after leading 8-1. I know USA put in a backup goalie and a few other non-starters to play the last 3 quarters after jumping out to a big lead.

Swimming starts here soon. But I won't be here for updates this time.

Wasn't there a swimmer a few olympics ago who could hardly swim? LOL

Unless I misread fab's post (too lazy to look back), I thought he said they lost which prevents them from advancing...
