I think we might have a good year. what you guys think?
I would pick Seneca East as the favorite going in. Carey, Hopewell Louden, and Tiffin Calvert all lost a lot from last season but all seem to rebuild quickly. Fremont St. Joe should be better but play a tough nonleague schedule. Mohawk should be improved, you guys have quite a bit back and Lakota probably will be last again. Overall, I think that the MAL will be down this season so it is kind of up for grabs. I'm the most familiar with Carey, they probably will be very young this season. They have a really good sophmore to be class with some talent in the Junior and Senior classes as well. I don't see them winning it or going to the playoff this year but should improve as the year goes on. Seneca East returns a lot of kids who played last season including their QB (Caudill) I like their chances but in past seasons have not won games to match their talent level so we'll see.

The Tigers aren't looking half bad. Small team this year though and less talent than last year, but with the Pistol Wing-T offense this year I think they might be able to pull off a better season than last year. Of course they won against Holgate already, but when don't they? Holgate is always the weaker contestant.

This week is a new opponent and I got to say I honestly don't know if you guys are going to be able to win it. As long as the offensive line and defense stay strong, I think it will be a good game. Keep passing that ball and only give it to Ishmael when he can handle it. Also, Coach Woodruff needs to find a kicker and go for the 1 point instead of 2.(Failed last week)

Anyways, good luck!

The MAL is weak this season, it's wide open for anyone to take. I still think Seneca East will probably end up on top but who knows.

Yep, who knows. We will just have to wait and see. Being a resident of North Baltimore though, I would love to see them have a successful season again. It's been too long. But with only 24-23 kids this year, they might have to wait a little longer. A few of the seniors have some talent though. You never know what could happen, the team that wants it the most is the team that gets the most. NB usually don't want it that bad though, they just need to keep their heads up this year.

Holgate actually has a pretty physical team this year. Looking at films, honestly, they look more physical than Fairview. And we do have a few people who can kick the PAT.

I didn't make it to the Holgate game, but that's good! Fairview has more depth though, they almost double the Tigers. That's why you guys need to stay strong and try to avoid as much injuries as possible. But I look forward to seeing more PAT's then hopefully. One extra point can be a game changer.

This is the kind of game you (North Baltimore) need to win if you are to be taken seriously as a legit contender for the MAL title. I always root for the MAL schools in their Nonconference games but this one looks to be a bit more of a challenge than you guys can handle. I hope you prove me wrong, Good Luck Tigers.

"Winning the first game was big," Ishmael said. "How you do in your first game is how everyone feels the season is going to go. That really helps our confidence. If we keep playing like that, we can win a lot more than we did last year. We have to keep getting better every week and not let up, keep working hard every day."

I don't want to sound like a hater or disappoint anyone. But we won our first two games last year and after that we didn't win another one until we face Lakota, what is Ishmael talking about?

Early season optimism. What do you want him to say? Honestly, I'll believe NB is "good" when I see it.

That optimism is what messes them up. They think they can just go out on the field and play easy and still get a win. They lost tonight by the way 41-14.

just watched films. Elmwood doesn't know how to take care of the ball too well.

Don't ever judge a team by how they look playing someone else. This is a winnable game for North Baltimore but you must be at your best, no mistakes and improve from last week. Elmwood will be ready and confident because they have had success in the past against you. It would help if you could hit them in the mouth early to set the tone for the whole game. Based on last week, I would pick Elmwood to win this game but it is a game that you can win if you listen to your coach and everyone does his job. Good luck Tigers, the MAL needs some out of conference success.

Don't forget Fairview is a Division ahead of North Baltimore, and those boys can play ball pretty well. But yes, Elmwood will be confident for a fact and they are always ready to play ball. The kids in NB lack confidence, put those freshman in this week. They love to play, and if it wasn't for them last week North Baltimore wouldn't have scored a point. The freshman and juniors are the ones that want to play ball, a few sophomores as well.

It is sad and it is the truth. Honestly, if they can't pull off this one, I doubt they will win against Lakota.
