I have cable but some friends were bitching about losing mtv, vh1, and several others. I was just curious if others lost channels. I heard something about not being able to reach an agreement with the provider. Heres a link about it.

I could care less what they are into honestly. A friend is a friend no matter what they watch.

Don't have DirecTV, but lost my local NBC due to a dispute between TWC and Hearst Television. Of course Hearst wants more money and from what I hear by like 300%. Oh and the dispute is also with Insight so what does that tell ya.

Plus I don't watch network so who cares about watching the local talent bring you the same news you can hear on their website or from another channel.

People bitch about prices rising for Cable/Dish/Satellite and it's because Other Businesses are bumping their prices and blaming it on the other...aka Viacom vs DirecTV.

I'm actually going to switch to DirecTV from TWC this weekend. Want to get the NFL Sunday Ticket. What are peoples thoughts on DirecTV? I've had Dish Network, which I had no problem with, except for the fact I'm considered in the Pittsburgh viewing market so I was stuck with Steelers games.

I switched from cable to DirecTV about a year ago and I love it. People complain about losing signal, but in the years time I can only think of losing my signal once. That was because of ice build up.

All Viacom channels are suspended as of now. Spike, Comedy Central, BET, VH1, MTV, All The Nickelodeon channels, etc...

When I didn't have signal issues, DTV was awesome for the most part. Best HD of any service I've had. Some of TWC's HD is an embarrassment. I did have signal loss problems, and switching between channels was almost painfully slow. But the picture was awesome.

I've heard a lot of people are getting rid of DirecTV. The only channel lost that I really watch is Comedy Central. I watch Spike occasionally. I will stick with DirecTV. Mainly because I really like NFL Sunday Ticket.

Is this a breach of their contract with the consumer? Can the consumer leave without penalty?

Hearst NBC in Orlando was removed from TWC/Brighthouse cable the other day too. I have an antenna with 45 channels, but 30 of them are religious or spanish. I don't pay for cable, I use the internet.

Ice builds up on the dish, interfering with the satellite signal.

F Viacom. Directv is giving us free Encore because of this.
To thank you for your patience until Viacom channels are returned, all eight Encore Channels (including Encore Family) will be made available to all customers thru July 31st. Tune to Channels 535 to 542 to start watching.

Directv hasn't dropped any channels. Viacom has forced them to stop showing them until they come to an agreement.

Only one I'd occasionally watch is Comedy Central. Could care less about the rest.

This. I liked how they cut it off in the final 10 minutes of the show.

hmpf.
