With one of the greatest unofficial traditions in college sports happening in 1 week, I have to ask if there are any other fellow Buckeyes making the jump this year. This will be my 3rd jump and I hope it's the best of all. If you haven't witnessed this event, I would say it's something you need to at least spectate once in your life. It truly is an amazing site to see.

It's looking like it won't be quite as cold as years past.

I've never witnessed it, but am thinking about sticking around the campus area when I get off work (I work in the area) and taking it in.

Too bad the game doesn't have the luster of years past either. Although Michigan might be fighting for a bowl bid, so it would be cool if OSU was the team to officially keep them out.

My asshole math prof has an midterm scheduled for that Friday morning. There goes all of my plans, because I'm not taking a 415 exam hung-over in the morning. He's this short little asian guy, probably doesn't even know what a football is, or just wants to be an asshole.

It's snowed the last two years so it certainly can't get worse.

Right now its looking like hi 56 lo 39 that day.

Maybe the best night of the year to be an OSU student.

I was wondering the same thing. Moving the game is really going to screw with the out of state students who go home for Thanksgiving.

As far as the Mirror lake jump is concerned, I fear it is only a matter of time before something tragic happens. Thousands of college kids, lots of alcohol, a cold, shallow lake with a concrete bottom, after dark, freezing temperatures...I hope it never happens, but I think it's only a matter of time.

^If that's the worst they get into in college, I'd call it a pretty good night lol.

I plan on coming down from Akron to make my first jump. What time does everyone start going over to mirror lake?

Just some practical advice for those about to make the plunge.

1) Wear old clothes. By the morning after, the lake is usually brown with dirt.

2) If you wear sandals, tape them to your feet or they will be gone in a matter of moments.

I will be high on an assortment of narcotics, along with a mixture of various alcoholic drinks.

As an OSU alum, I expect all current students to make that jump this Thursday. Plus girls get naked there. Just another reason to do it.

Tradition says you must do it at midnight the thursday before the game. They better keep that tradition or there will be some bad karma for the team.

Are you eating turkey at midnight on thanksgiving? I don't think so. Eat at noon, go back to campus, take a nap, get drunk. Not hard.

Shame on him for giving you an exam when you're in college. How dare he.

Yea but I would say a great majority of students go home to have thanksgiving dinner with their families. And how many of them would be able to go back that night if they are from out of town? It will be interesting to see how this goes down next year.

I did it in 2006. It was a blast, but it's a one time thing to do. Great experience, but I'm not interested in doing it anymore.

this is going to be the first year since the 2003 season that i won't be jumping. not too thrilled about it, but i guess the real-life/big-people jobs had to catch up with me eventually. i've already been told that if osu loses to michigan, it's because i didn't jump this year.

also, it's sooooo nice to be able to post again and not pay for any ridiculous fee. kudos!!! (can i have my post-count from the huddle transferred over :))
