It's a god damn pain in the ass. Not being able to sleep due to the pain despite being drugged on Vicodin.

They suck. Had one several years ago. I spent about 20 hours a day sleeping (Vicodin has that effect on me and it was the only time it didn't hurt).

I haven't got it yanked yet. Both my wisdom teeth are coming in at the same time as this so they want to fix it all at once. The meds they're giving me really don't do anything.

Are you on an antibiotic...pennecillin/clindamycin? I'd be calling your dentist and requesting one if you are not. Certainly you should call for advice, especially if it is going to be awhile before you get the tooth out.

I said fuck it and went in there and had the root canal done. 3 hours later and I got the assistants number :D
