A man who says he was charged with disorderly conduct after using the word "crippled" to promote a comedian with muscular dystrophy claims Cincinnati police violated his free speech rights, and the comedian agrees.
Forest Thomer, of Cold Spring, Ky., is to appear in a Cincinnati courtroom on the charge Wednesday. He was cited by Cincinnati police last month at a park after he and comedian Ally Bruener say he asked people if they wanted to "laugh at the crippled girl."

Thomer, 25, was cited May 23 on a disorderly conduct charge alleging that he walked into people and shouted obscenities at them, according to court records. Thomer was asked to stop his behavior but "persisted in yelling and shouting, causing annoyance and alarm to others," according to the complaint in Hamilton County Municipal Court.[LEFT]

am I the only one who read the article? He got arrested for disorderly conduct because he was being unnecessarily rude to others in public. Calling the girl crippled was just icing on the cake. He wasn't arrested for calling her crippled, he was arrested for yelling at people and running into them.

Nah, I read it and I agree with you. He wasn't arrested for calling someone a cripple. He was arrested for being a nuisance at an event he didn't have permission to be doing what he was doing.

I know Ally personally, and have heard her side of the story from the time the incident happened.

According to Ally and her friend, they were going up to people at Party in the Park and filming them saying, "I Laughed at the Crippled Girl" - Ally's shirt that she sells. Apparently one woman got upset by it, and told someone working the event who asked them to leave. They got upset, saying that they shouldn't be forced to leave, and that's when the cops were called.

I think he's going to be found guilty. Once the person working the event asked them to leave, they should have packed it up and went. They have sort of twisted things to make it seem like he was arrested for offending people by using the word crippled. He wasn't. He was arrested for not leaving when he was told to do so.
