It's still better than power walking.

Why not golf?
I like it as a U-23 event. I agree that the Olympics don't have the magnitude of the World Cup or Euro, but it's good exposure for the younger players. It's much more of an event for women's soccer because it's one of two times that it really gets exposure.like_that;1238804 wrote:I also still think soccer should be eliminated. I don't even think the big European soccer countries give a shit about Olympic soccer. Everyone just pays attention to their actual national teams that compete in the World Cup. It may be exposure, but no one cares, at all. It's like basketball used to be, then they let the pros play and people actually started giving a damn.NilesPacMan;1238822 wrote:I like it as a U-23 event. It wasn't devastating that our team didn't make it, but it would have been nice to gather up the young players to have them work together and better learn Klinsmann's system. More touches definitely doesn't hurt.
If it's not a rule (I have no idea), then someone needs to make a good soccer player somewhere give enough of a damn to actually compete. Otherwise, scrap it at the Olympics and stick to World Cup.Midstate01;1238828 wrote:Is it a rule that it's U-23 though?? Great Britain had two guys over 30
Each team is allowed 3 players above the age of 23.Midstate01;1238828 wrote:Is it a rule that it's U-23 though?? Great Britain had two guys over 30

I like the idea of having golf. Have a team tournament, then have the individual tournament the following week.

Also....mens volleyball is ghey.
right now it looks like it will just be a 72 hole stroke play format...which is stupid imo. need a team match play format as wellwildcats20;1239388 wrote:I didn't read everything, but are you not aware that golf is being added?

i get that but only doing a 72 hole stroke tournament makes it just seem like a pga tour stop in rio. will have the same feel as tennis does this yearwildcats20;1239410 wrote:Might evolve into that but I think individual competition for the first year is ok. They need to make sure the players really want to be there.
