I'm bummed Rob Meyers isn't trying to qualify again in the 1500. I believe he's retiring. Haven't gotten to talk to him. His dads getting older and pretty sure Robbie will be taking over the family farm.

Galen Rupp's effort in the 5K was fantastic. Beating out Lagat and breaking Prefontaine's Olympic Trials record at Hayward Field is something I'm sure he will never forget.

Went to high school and ran track with Josh Schneider, who just finished fourth in the 50M freestyle. Was always one hell of an athlete and had a great college career swimming at UC. Cool to see someone local like that going for the Olympics.

Ok this is the first time I ever watched the gymnastics trials, why the hell do they keep score? Only the top score qualifies, the rest is purely subjective??? That kinda sucks!

No no she didn't score high enough but 1 in the top 5 was replaced by 7 that would suck!

Surprised no one yet has mentioned Nick Thoman (100 Back) from Cincinnati. I forget which HS he went to, but it wasn't a big name one (not St. X). I do remember losing to him quite a few times throughout HS and USS swimming.

Also had a few friends and other people I swam against or with at some point in the circle seeded heats. Ohio was well represented with the likes of Nick Thoman, Margo Geer, Adam Ritter, Mark Gangloff, David Mosko, Jenny Bradford and I'm sure there are some others I have missed or were in earlier heats (not televised).

Also, a friend from college, Ben True, did well on the track but didn't make the field.

As far as gymnastics go. I'm rooting for Gabby Douglas winning the gold over Jordyn Wieber. Gabby was more fun to watch and Jordyn spells her damn name with a y. And every time I see McKayla Maroney I think of sonic the hedge hog.

EUGENE, Ore. — Toledo Rogers graduate and elite high jumper Erik Kynard is officially a member of Team USA.
Kynard saw his dreams come to fruition when he cleared 7-foot-5 ¾ inches in the finals of the high jump at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Monday night.
Kynard finished second and will represent the U.S. at next month’s Olympics in London.
Competing in damp conditions, the 2009 Rogers graduate was one of only six competitors to clear 7-4 1/2. Only four cleared 7-5 3/4. The top three make the Olympic team

I just saw the story abut the woman not wanting to do the run-off. Thank god she won't be racing individually as she obviously doesn't have a winners instinct. Anyone who backs down from a 1 on 1 race doesn't have what it takes. I don't think she should be on the relay either.

I 100% agree flyfour. She looks like a poor sport and someone who is afraid. Her pouting mantality reminds me of of a spoiled brat who has never been told no. She says she doesnt want a run off or a coin flip. Well then what do you want? Do you want someone who ties you to give up or do you want the Olympics to just kick someone else out that deserves to go. GTFO and dont let her run in the relays either.
