First wash all car. Then wax. Wax on, right hand. Wax off left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don't forget to breathe, very important.
Wax on, wax off. Wax on, wax off.
Wax on, wax off. Wax on, wax off.

How do you suggest one finish in this situation?

You trust the quality of what you know, not quantity.

What color is your car? Some waxes work better with bright colors than black.
imo- Go with a hard wax that takes some elbow grease to remove.
Most importantly, don't put it on too thick, very light applications will make the removal a lot easier.

Tried turtle wax express today, not too bad between regular waxes.
But one rain will probably take it off, nice touch up.

Griotsgarage.com
Stuff is pricey, but their vinyl/rubber dressing (tire shine) is 10x better than any gunk you can buy at an auto parts store. Love their Speed Shine for in between washes and their wheel cleaner too. Doesn't strip the clear coat from your wheels.
Most of their stuff is water based, not petroleum based, so it doesn't turn into sludge.
