I'm looking to get a tablet of some sort that I can use in meetings (so I don't have to lug around a shit ton of paper or a laptop). Does anyone use a tablet for business purposes? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Not sure what the big difference between luggin a laptop vs a tablet would be, but go iPad.

Yeah I don't really get the difference either.

But I agree I'd just go with an iPad if you want a tablet.

I have an iPad, getting better at using it and moving around to find stuff. It takes a little time to utilize all the potential it has, so far it has been working out great. I’m going to upgrade to a 64GB, I would not suggest a 16GB

I have to find a way to print from it via wireless printer connection. Which I'm looking into now for my options for a laser printer or color InkJet.

I have been getting complaints lately from some of the gals when they travel that their laptops are too heavy and they don't like "lugging" them around. I just look at them with a "you are a dumb fuck" stare.

What's your budget?

iPad is obviously the best, but I'd have a hard time dropping that much coin on one of the "new" ones.

HAHA!! I guess I need to quit being a bitch. The seat belt scene from Old School came to mind after reading some of these posts.

I guess it just seemed like a tablet would make it easier to access documents during a meeting without actually needing a laptop sitting in front of you. Also, I liked the idea of being able to write down notes on a tablet and have it converted to text.

No problem with the budget, but I don't want to throw away money for a new one because it's trendy and not much more improved from the old one.

Oh Jesus Christ. A laptop takes up about the same horizontal room as a laptop; let's be honest here, you want an iPad because they look cool. They are worthless for anything more than social proof for your friends that you have so much money that you can afford stupid useless shit.

And then if/when you lose your job, you'll cry to the government for help and bitch because you have no money due to no savings.

Only in America...

Just get a small laptop that is battery efficient. It'll run laps around a tablet in terms of capability

The other day, I saw someone on the Metro with an iPhone, and iPod touch, and an iPad. So worthless. Seriously, there are a lot of people who have no lives who buy Apple products so their friends will think they are cool and hip. It's a joke.

I don't blame Apple, they have the best marketing of any company on the planet. Steve Jobs was a great CEO(GOAT CEO) because he was a great marketer. He's essentially built an eco-system of "cool" products that people have to have; its absolutely incredible.

What about the ~15 yrs when Apple was an after thought in the computer market? If it weren't for the success of the iPod, very good chance Apple wouldn't be here today.

Just got a Kindle Fire and have been very happy with it. Does everything that I need it to and is far more reasonably priced than the Ipad.

I don't disagree. Apple is still far behind the Windows market share, but there aren't many Windows fans walking around touting how great their products are(ironically, most of the Windows people are the ones with jobs).

More than anything, it just shows how technology evolves in such a short time. Laptops were made to be portable. And 5 years ago anyone who traveled would do anything for a laptop. Now they complain as if they are carrying a desktop with them.

Guys, tablets aren't going away. The maturation of touch screen technology, low power chipsets, and internet access make tablets a form factor that will stay. Microsoft knows this or else they wouldn't be making an ARM based version of Windows.

This. I am an apple hater, but the Ipad is legit. I have tinkered with all the other tablets and they are not on par with it.

Same here, and it's not even close really.

Maybe the Asus Eee Slate, it's pretty badass. My coworker has one, but he also dropped close to a grand for it.

For the money the Samsung tablets aren't bad. I like the smaller size. I've yet to mess with the new version.

Was that directed at me? Because if it was, I don't believe I said anyone needed to buy a tablet or any other electronic device. I was just stating this is a form factor that is not a fad.

I am in agreement with this.
