Over the weekend my stepdaughter graduated HS. We held the party at our house for friends and families and such. The date of the party has been known for 3 months.
Dont you think that is AMPLE time for an aunt, and uncle, of the graduate to make arrangments with work to attend the party? Both live within an hour and both didnt make the attempt to make it. They want to say that they are really close, so it isnt like a relative that she doesnt ever see.
It bothered the heck out of me, and I know my stepdaughter was extremely disappointed too. There is absolutely no reason they could not have gotten off to at least show up. Hell, I have alot of nieces and nephews and have made arrangements at work a number of times to attend some important events. Sometimes ya gotta sell out........offer to work two shifts for someone who is filling in for you.
I just thought it was really shitty to skp out on their ONLY niece's graduation party. The next day for the actual ceremony, the one aunt said she couldnt attend the ceremony because...that is the normal nap time of her son.
