Pretty good read. I lol'd quite a few times, especially at this:
You hear that, Texas schoolchildren? Whether you support spurs or cowboys or even Spurs or Cowboys (two teams that obviously play against each other several times a year for the World Finals of Stanley Bowls)

Wow.

+1 for the artistry involved, but -1 for ISS. As an In-School Suspension monitor, I am offended.

The only thing I see is a horrible attempt at humor by the writer.

Kid is being an attention whore. School is in the right to make him cut it.

Favorite part:
We don't know the entirety of this story, or Gonzalez's history. Perhaps he was caught selling three-pointers in the parking lot outside of the school last month.

Thank God they didn't show the uncensored version of the Scalabrine image carved in his pubes.

Back in the late 80s, it was quite common for people to do stuff like this. I remember when Batman (Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson version) came out shaving the bat in the back of your head was quite fashionable.

of course you say this. It's a haircut. Has no nudity, violence, etc. No reason to make him cut it or suspend him.

Okay, so it's OK if I wear a shirt to school that says "God is fake"?

a distraction is a distraction

Kids don't have rights, and they especially don't have rights when they're getting a free education.

Personally, if I were an admin of the school I'd let it slide, because the buzz would wear off and everyone would lose interest...but I don't mind that they're cracking down and I understand why.

Also, shit like this happens everywhere.

No one should be distracted, it's the truth.

It's their choice to get whatever they want on their head. and yes, it is okay to wear a shirt like that.

I doubt you'd last an entire day with that shirt on.

There were three instances of similar things such as this at my (public) high school:
1. A kid was asked to remove his "Take off your pants and jacket" blink-182 shirt
2. Another was asked to stop wearing rebel flag clothing (only after a black kid transferred to the school)
3. Another got a really stupid/bad frohawk and was asked to get his hair cut.

So yeah, this happens all of the time and it only makes headlines when the parents throw a hissy fit.

It's dumb, but the high school has the grounds to do it.
