Leake gives up 3 in the first and throws 65 pitches. Could be a long night.

Leake and the Reds spot the Nats 3 in the first. Key hit was the #2 batter's 2 R HR on the 5th 3-2 pitch of the AB. After chopping four fouls he hit it very well on the barrel.

I really thought Leake was going to be solid this year. I think he needs to spend some time in the minors.

Lol at Chris Welch giving Ramos credit for getting a good jump. There was 2 outs, he better have gotten a good jump.

The production we get out of our 6-8 hitters is pathetic.

Bruce gets on with a double and the next 3 batters all strikeout. Freaking pathetic.

Dusty obviously willing to just chalk this game up as a loss.

Chapman continues to waste away in the pen while Leake keeps messing his pants every start. Smh

Setup men are useless when your starting pitchers struggle to put you in a position to win

It was over since the top of 1. However, Dusty is going to use 4-5 different relievers and the team is playing 20 games in 20 days. Blatently dumb...

Please don't hit a rally killing HR in the 9th! try just for more baserunners until at least the tying run is on to go yard.

Despite losing...the Reds got a TON of chances tonight...unable to get a huge hit.

Two different innings they had bases loaded and one out, and in both cases from that point they failed to score. Imperative there, with the deficit they had, to score when you have that kind of chance.

Meso not very quick getting ready to throw on SB attempts. It looks like he does not even make an effort to be ready to throw until the pitch is already in his glove.

After tonight Bailey and Leake will be 1-8. How many of the 8 has Hanigan caught?

That is why it is so nice to have righty and lefty hitting catchers so the manager cannot play favorites!

Seems like that play at 2nd on Stubbs should have been a lot closer if he got the proper "jump" on contact. Thwe throw was pretty weak! I don't think Zimmerman is going to be a major league fielder very long due to his shoulder.

This team is just not that good.

Love the Stubbs bunt.... when they aren't 4 runs down in the 9th.

Why not that situation? It did just what was called for, a base runner! A lot of other situations are perfect for it, especially when a runner is already on 1st.

What are the reds options at third if rolen gets hurt this year or if he retires next year

Because it doesn't prove he can do it under pressure and all it really did was alert the defense for the next couple games. Sure it's nice that it worked but they weren't coming back.

Cairo and Frazier at third. They don't have any prospects that are close to being ready to replace Rolen next year. It will have to come in a trade or free agency. Youkalis has mentioned he'd like to play for the Reds but that would be Rolen part II.
