Thinking about taking the family down for the week of July 4th. Anyone ever been there? Worth the trip?

I love it there. Going that same week. I lived there for 3 years during college. The beach is going to be paaaacked on the 4th. And to Folly there is only a 2 lane road in. Could be a long wait if you choose to go on that day. I think it is better than Savannah.
