You win fans in round 1, you win playoff games in rounds 2-5

Last night the Bengals addressed two areas of need.

17 (thank you Carson) Dre Kirkpatrick CB from Alabama

27 (after trade with NE) Kevin Zeitler OG from Wisconsin

1. Kirkpatrick won't have to start right away because of the signings of Allen, Newman, and Pacman but he may well anyway. Big guy, small arms, but big hands. Not a great number of picks in his three years at Bama, but the prototypical shut down corner by many.

2. Zeitler graded out higher than DeCastro according to Oline coach Paul Alexander. Graded out a 90 or higher in protection in 23 college games and never graded below a 23.

Round 2 the Bengals pick #53 and thanks to the trade last night with New England have two 3rd round picks #83 and #93.

Time to add depth at wide receiver, maybe a running back, and likely some additions to the defensive line.

I was surprised they passed on decastro twice but i guess we will have to wait until the third round to see if that move paid off IMO. Players who i would like to see us go after in the second round

Lb david
Lb upshaw
Dt worthy
Wr jeffery
Wr randle
Cb jenkins

Pretty much in that order. No idea who or if any of those guys will be available but i think they would be good value picks. I wouldn't be opposed to trading up early second to grab one of them either.

Definitely thought it was a good first round. I thought the trade with New England was a good one since they still got a very good OG who obviously knows how to run block, and now have another top 100 pick to use for depth, or to trade up. Hopefully Dre Kirkpatrick can turn into a lockdown corner, but I love his toughness and willingness to make a hit and tackle. Definitely not a soft corner, that's for sure.

It's almost a no-doubter that they'll be drafting a WR tonight. I'd love to see Stephen Hill(unlikely), Alshon Jeffery, Chris Givens, TY Hilton, or Ryan Broyles(think he's very underrated). The only one I really don't want is Rueben Randle.

My biggest concern with Kirkpatrick is his lack of playmaking ability (only 3 career intereceptions while at Bama). I like Zeitler, although I am still salty that they passed on DeCastro and let him go to the Steelers of all teams.

I'd love for Rueben Randle to somehow fall...

Randle would be a good pick since there are probably quite a bit of teams looking to take a wr this round...just depends how much people like him. I think it's between him and Stephen Hill to go to the Browns, maybe the Bengals get the other one by either letting him fall or trading up to get him.

I really like are draft so far. The only negitive I've heard is that kilpatrick is a thug but the person who said this also thought the browns hit it outta the park with their draft. BTW is was Kirk herbstreet

Another solid pick.

Would like to see McNutt with the late 3rd rounder.

Then again - the Vegas odds on when Pacman earns his next suspension is currently Week 11. :p

I'm not as high on Sanu as others, but not disappointed. Overall a very good draft for the Bengals. 5 picks in the first 3 rounds and didn't screw one of them up. Still need RB and Safety help but can only do so much at one time.

The only pick I would question would be the dude from Clemson, I figured they'd go with a RB at that spot

RB isn't really a need position. BGE, Scott, Leonard, Peerman are all pretty young. They also signed some dude from Boise or TCU a few months ago, can't remember his name.

Bengals take TE Orson Charles out of Georgia. Seems like they draft a TE every year

Bengals are getting quantity and quality in this draft.

Might be the best overall draft to this point.

Charles is a steal. UGA TE's have some nice pedigree in the NFL.

Bengals are 9 for 9 I would say

they add Marvin Jones and a highly rated safety Iloka from Boise
