Leake needs a good performance tonight. He was our 2nd best starter last season but he's been our worst starter so far this season.

Also, I am putting together a pickup softball game on May 26th before the national game against the Rockies. If you're a Cincy native I expect you to be there, because softball and booze. I'm looking at you Mooney, sherm, Terry_Tate, etc.

Would've been going for 5 in a row, but Azu just had to start the last game thread!

Sounds like fun. Wish I was still going to be home then.

Leake gets thru the 1st easily on 12 pitches, 3 batters, and 3 poorly struck fair balls.

That was not a "gold glove" play by Joey! He didn't need to get off the bag to be able to reach Cozart's throw. Then Meso's throw was too high throw out Bogusavic. Then Leake gets Johnson on a grounder to 3rd to end the inning, saving the 8,9 hitters for next inning. But he used 19 pitches to get thru the 2nd with the defense not helping - no errors, but still made Leake work more than he might have.

Can't get mad at Bruce. If he doesn't dive there, people will say he's slacking.

Problem is Mike Leake is a contact pitcher which is a bad thing to be at GABP. Typical Leake, he's a 5-6 IP guy who isn't ever going to allow under 3 runs.

Bruce with a good decision to go for the catch to save the run with 2 out, but a not well executed play to get his glove to low and turn it into a triple, then Leake can't save the run who in scoring position due to Bruce's lost, but correct, gamble. 2-0 and it looks like it will be tough to get that many against Wandy!

Jordan Schafer seems to be a lead-off hitter out of the Stubbs mold, leading the team in Ks - Leake worked him over with the back door tailing fastball - a David Weathers' like pitch against lefties.

Excellent play by Cozart to realize he didn't have a chance for a DP so he got the lead runner on a force out at 3rd!

It was a bad play and Bruce would be the first to admit it. He simply over shot his dive.....ridiculous not to stop it.

Bruce could go 5-6 tonight and rob 3 HR and he still should be sitting.

In 2011 he pitched at least 6 innings and allowed under 3 runs 14 times.

Leake isn't the problem. Leake + Arroyo + Bailey is the problem. Can a World Series contender afford to run out 3 guys of their caliber out in a row?

Maybe so, if Cueto and Latos are Cy Young contenders. If not, I'm not sure the Reds can continue to gamble unless the offense is going to be one of the tops in the MLB...

Maybe that at bat will get Joey in the peak of his hitting zone.

Rolen has been robbed of 2 doubles by Jordan Shaffer....the second one was one of THE top outfield plays of the year.
