This new organic grocery store had it's grand opening at Polaris yesterday. My wife came home with a bunch of healthy organic shit. Should I eat that shit or is it bad for me? I'm thinking my body might have some sort of reaction after years of greasy hamburgers.

Any one been there or otherwise eat organic food? What's the benefit?

For a number of places, "organic" is just a way to have higher prices. I say that as a farmer's market devotee. I will say I like going to "organic" stores for meat and produce because it's a better selection than you'd find at a typical grocery (can't usually find ground bison in the meat case at a local grocery, for example).

Also, you'll probably be fine eating it. I'd guess it's the switch the other way (from "natural" to processed) that would be worse.

Is the entire store "organic"? They are one of my companies clients and we supply some of their items, but I've never been in one.

I imagine its a lot like Whole Foods.

i was watching something the other day where they cut open a regular tomato and a organic/farmfresh tomato and examined what they looked like on the inside and the regular tomato was hard as a rock and you could throw it and it would be undamaged, had thick skin and spines throughout and the organic one was soft and juciy and looked how a tomato was suppossed to look like. they said the regular tomato had a shelf life during transport and in the store of over a month, while the organic one was less than two weeks.

That's very interesting. They're trying to make tomatoes last as long as twinkies it seems lol. Well worth noting tho.

I didn't go. I was next store at Costco. Might check it out tho. I've been to Whole Foods and it's prob similar.

Gblock touched on one thing about organic....that food wont last nearly as long so ya cannot really stack up on that stuff.

I went to the Earth Fare in Akron and was pretty shocked by how high some of the prices were.

Earth Fare is plentiful down here in NC. They actually have decent prices on meat. Chicken breast is usually equal to if not a better deal than our mainstream stores. I bought two lobster tails for $10 there once.

And if yours has a hot bar/sandwich station I recommend trying it out as their food is pretty good. To the OP, some offer grassfed beef burgers which are great. Not all have burgers though as it depends on the locale and if there is someone who can supply beef from a local farm.

I will say when I get Fuji apples the organic ones are usually sweeter and taste better
