The SEC was the most represented conference on the first team, with 11 players, Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones was the only Big Ten player on the first team.

NO BUCKEYES ?? Not even 3rd team ??

IMO,that's what made their defense special this year--no one real stud...now,next year's another story- we should have some serious representation--GO BUCKS!!!

OSU's defensive players haven't really put up eye catching stats but if you look its pretty balanced production and that is what makes them good.

The only guy who I thought had a chance was Coleman with 5 INT's, 3 FF, and some reasonable tackle numbers.

And?

There is a guy on the AA list that did something a lot worse than Colemand and got suspended for it.

He plays in the MAC dude. Should he have been 2nd team? Gilyard was 2nd team--and I think he got snubbed. Barnes is no where near Gilyard.

Yeah 3rd team AA is nothing to hang your head over. It's a nice accomplishment for a MAC player.

Keenum out of Houston...I know it's tough to break into the top three QB's, but his numbers were flat out ill. Crappy conference doesn't help, nor does a "system" label, but still, tight numbers nonetheless.

Barnes may not have even been on the list if Bryant was there to bump someone out.

It is great to see Spiller on there. He definitely deserves recognition.

You have to admit the Alabama players that are on there...have earned the right to be on there.

Besides Ingram, no.

I wanted to expound upon this a little bit. There are many GREAT players in college football, and not all of them play for Alabama. It's simply lazy on the AP's part to pick players from teams that had good seasons, instead of actually scrounging up stats from across the country to determine who is most deserving. Are the Alabama players deserving? Maybe, but there are probably plenty of other players that deserve to be on this list besides Texas, Alabama, and the rest of the SEC. I mean their KICKER is on the 1st team? Seriously? Now, lucky for you and the AP, I am also lazy and don't give a hoot(largely because this means nothing as Ohio State would absolutely crush Alabama if they got the chance to play this year), so I won't go through and find players that are more deserving, and you can take that to the bank.
