3 things coulda happened:
1) we blew it up mid-air
2) we sabotaged it pre-launch
3) NoKo's suck at building rockets
I'd be happy with either.

1. Don't have the technology to do that. Our missile defense is in the final phase. We do not have boost phase defense.derek bomar;1143060 wrote:3 things coulda happened:

2. Perhaps, wouldn't rule it out, but wouldn't give us that much credit either.
3. I think this is it. There is a reason it is called rocket science, it is pretty damn hard. The Norks just suck at it.
Apparently the thing failed during the first stage, which is a huge setback. The 2009 test failed between the 2nd and 3rd stages.
My takeaway, the Norks are still years away from threatening the U.S.

Are you serious? That is truly impressive. We could go to war with them and just take their food and hold it over our heads.BR1986FB;1143464 wrote:I heard this morning that the height requirement to join the North Korean army was 4'9"? Probably a reason for this. Since their diet consists primarily of "air", they probably have stunted growth. 4'11" might be the center on their Olympic basketball team.bigkahuna;1143501 wrote:Are you serious? I might move over there. At 6' I could be a giant or the highest paid person in their professional basketball league.BR1986FB;1143503 wrote:Probably a reason for this. It's only a matter of time before they inadvertently nuke themselves because they have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

I imagine they might also have a few openings in the astro-physics department, seeing as how this test fell short of their last one. Job also comes with housing, clothing, furniture and food "abandoned" by prior employees.

That's funny because I thought the same thing. Kind of like one of those bloopers of a kid setting off a bottle rocket that comes back to blast him in the balls or mouth except in a much more catastrophic way.dlazz;1143560 wrote:It's only a matter of time before they inadvertently nuke themselves because they have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

Is anyone else fascinated with North Korea? I've seen 2 documentaries from Americans who were granted access. I just wish there was more.

I've watched a few. I watched this one on vice.com about North Korean labor camps in Siberia. These guys are not your typical journalists. They mix a lot of humor into it but still get the story told. There are seven parts.bigkahuna;1143912 wrote:Is anyone else fascinated with North Korea? One of the greatest twitter feeds:
http://twitter.com/#!/KimJongNumberUn
Some good ones:
That is the last time I buy a rocket on eBay.
Still confused about what went wrong. Thought Diet Coke and Mentos was foolproof.
Final offer: will call off nuclear launch in exchange for IPad 3.
Baby you're so fine I want to put my rocket in your silo. <s>#</s>northkoreanpickuplines
