It's fair, but I have a feeling this goes on in other places. The NFL has to punish the Saints pretty hard to avoid any lawsuits that could take place in the future.

This needed it's own thread. Nobody was talking about it on the random chatter thread.

Except they were rewarding players for injuring other players. It seems extreme unless you're the guy with a blown out knee cause some LB wanted to win the pool that week.

It's definitely a message to all the other teams. The league knows this has the potential to be a huge problem. No coach is gonna let it go on anymore if they're worried about losing their job.

Seems like all the analysts ive heard recently thought he'd get somewhere between a 2 and 4 game suspension. 1 year does seem kinda crazy.

Damn craziness I've heard they went one year bc they think it would be hard to police him if you only give him a 8 game suspension meaning he could run things over the phone and behind closed doors. They also lied to the NFL several times

Indeed. Pats get slap on wrist and all evidence destroyed by the league.

I'm sorry but I'm not caught up in this "bounty" bullsh*t. These players, for the most part, are going out to knock out as many people on the other team as they can already, and there's a POLICE SYSTEM already in place. It's called fines for illegal hits. So now a few thousand changes hands for hits within the rules, and it's an issue? Aren't these guys already paid to do the same thing? The refs have the power to flag, and the league has the power to fine. Seems like they already have a way of policing the actual conduct at issue here (the tackling).

I also posted this on the NFL thread but Sapp claims that Shockey is the snitch in this whole situation.
