Supposedly it's been out around two months by now, but when walking through the grocery today, a new offering from Samuel Adams caught my eye - Coastal Wheat.

Coastal Wheat is described as, "wheat beer [with] a twist on the Hefeweizen style. Brewed with Eureka and Lisbon varieties of lemon that balance the character of the malt blend, resulting in a crisp wheat beer with subtle lemon aroma and flavor."
To me, this sounds more like a spring or summer seasonal (which for some reason debuted in late fall/early winter), but it's actually a core beer in the Brewmaster's Collection. I'm a big fan of most - if not all - of the Boston Beer Company's brews, so I'm looking forward to giving this one a shot. Has anyone tried it yet, and if so, what did you think...?

Havn't tried it yet, but thanks for letting me know. I'm a HUGE Samuel Adams beer guy. The goal for my man cave someday is to get a bottle of everything they currently make, and have made.

I tried it. It's definitely more of a summer beer...not real sure why it's in the winter sampler.
I thought it was decent, maybe a little above average when it comes to wheat beers. I give it a 6.5 out of 10. Good, but not great.

I had it at a tasting the week before it was being released. Tastes like a great summer beer. I like it better than their Summer Ale.

Interesting, had never heard of it. I'll have to try and find it.

Utopia would be nice.
I wish they made the Old Fezziwig in 6 or 12 packs and not just in the winter sampler.

I have e-mailed them a few times and asked if they considered selling it in 6 or 12 packs but got no response. In years past I have hit up a few local bars that carry it and bought it as to go beer. Hopefully I can do the same this year as well. Prob my 2nd favorite behind Cream Stout.ss7 wrote: ^^^^^

I love Hefewizen and this sounds right up my alley. I will go on a scout for it, some mentioned it is in the winter sampler? For some reason it wasn't in the sample I bought a week or so ago. Maybe they are restrictive to we southerners.
