I download movies..and then I use Windows DVD Maker to burn them to a disc. With that program..it takes like 2 hours to make a disc. Surely there is faster programs out there! Anyone know of any free burning programs to burn movies with?

Nero 7.

I downloaded the torrent form of it on "isohunt". It is an expensive program, but not when you "borrow" it.

I am interested also. I use to have to convert and all sorts of crap to burn/rip dvds. I use to spend 3-4 hours doing everything. Nothing worse than getting a bad DVD after all that work.

Does it burn DVD's that are protected?

For ripping dvds, I use "anydvd" to take the protection off, then I use its sister program.....clonedvd to swipe it. I paid for those programs, but I am sure they can be stolen on isohunt also.

Yeah..I use anydvd also..they have a free trial if you download..but I just went ahead and bought it too b/c they kill the license numbers a lot..so if you have a bad one..you'll have to search for a new copy of anydvd and reinstall it. It costs about 50 bucks..but it's well worth it.

I get them off of isohunt also. The thing I do is I search on there for the words....

axxo
fxm
fxg
jaybob

those are people that have a lot of legit copies of movies.
I then download them using bitlord.....it is a free download torrent engine.
I use VLC media player to watch them on the computer, but I bought a portable 500 gb hard drive and a western digital HD media player that plugs right into the tv....so that is the easiest way to watch them.

I have a site that I go to that the guy only puts up good copies that you don't have anything to worry about..I'm just leary of downloading the torrents..I have to much important stuff on my computer in case something should happen. I have a 500 gb hard drive in my computer and then a 1 tb portable as well. Also use VLC. Never heard about the media players that plug into the TV..that's bad ass. Where'd you get it? Cost? just plugs right into the RCA jacks I'm assuming?

My fav electronic toy.......

http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-WD-Media-Player/dp/B001JZFQU4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260831652&sr=8-1

Also, I bought on Dells website for 100 when it was on sale. It goes on sale from time to time on there. Best Buy had it as a doorbuster this year for $75. If you download alot of movies......this thing is completely awesome.

It has RCA and HDMI support. I use the HDMI input.....picture is much much better.

To copy DVD's I use DVD Shrink, which works with Nero to burn the copy. I downloaded the free trial of Nero from their site, then used the keygen for a Nero torrent to unlock it.

And just an FYI: anytime you burn a DVD for the first time it's going to take a while (this is when burning a DVD you downloaded, not one you are copying). The computer has to render the file first, create the temp files on your computer, then actually burn it. If you are making multiple copies you'll notice that the subsequent copies go a lot quicker than the first. Also, the speed of your DVD drive will determine how fast the disk burns more than the program you use.

clonedvd and anydvd. the combination of the two allows me to put a DVD in drive A and a blank in drive B and be watching a burnt copy in 10 minutes.

I purchased licenses for both, but I know there is a torrent floating around out there.

I second anydvd, but you have to buy it. It will remove protections from any DVD.

Renting DVDs from Netflix and copying them is the better way to do it. Downloading movies eventually leads to arrests or fines. And yes, your ISP does not have to protect your privacy. They will be more than happy to turn it over if you are using large amounts of bandwidth.

The best programs for burning DVDs:

1. DVD Shrink 3.2
2. DVD Fab 6
3. DVD Decrypter

You will be able to burn pretty much any movie you want with those three. They will copy them to your desktop as files and you can burn them from there. Takes awhile to copy the movie, but about 20 minutes to burn them.

Yeah..I'm familiar with how to do it when renting a disc..I was more inquiring about dowloaded files..I knew there was a faster way than Windows DVD Maker. Just made one with Nero in about 20 minutes. Works great!
