I assume you still have a landline?
My parents still do for essentially no reason. No one calls it (because everyone in the family has a cell and people call those), so in this day in age they're basically just paying a monthly fee to have a telemarketing hotline. Everytime they bitch about telemarketers, I tell them to stop having a landline for no other reason than "they've always had it".

Landlines are good and useful if you have children who don't have cells. Good to call babysitters to check on your kids. Other than that, I don't see a good reason.
