It's more playoff baseball, and rewards winning your division, which is nice, but I don't think it'll make much of a difference other than throwing off one team's rotation in the second round.
Also, it's interesting to see that the wild card winner gets to host the first two games in the second round.

I like it, but I wish they played a 3 game series.

I guess I like the idea./..but I have no illusions......It just means that the Yanks and the Red Sox get an automatic ticket to the dance every year.
I don't like that a third place team in a five team division can be in the playoffs. That cheapens baseball.

I think it is a really smart idea to do the 1 game playoff.
Too many times we have seen the wild card team locked in and not really trying to win the division since they are both in the playoffs.
There is a hell of a lot more incentive now to win your division at all costs because no one wants to be stuck playing that play in game.
Besides, that second wild card is going to keep more fan bases into it deeper in the season, which to me is a good thing.

Love this idea. The Division winner wasnt rewarded NEARLY enough. Wild Card teams advancing might not go down, but at least no a Division winner avoids the "1st RD".
Now, they need a 3 game series. But maybe thats a few years down the road.
