Not coaching to win in pro football affects your draft position, which can COMPLETELY change the future of your franchise (see: Colts, Andrew Luck).

Not coaching to win a conf. tournament has absolutely no benefit to your program, other than I guess resting your players, which arguably helps your program (see: ratio of conf tourney winners to NCAA tourney winners).

Not to mention, that argument isnt the same because they arent playing for a title in week 16 or 17. They have it all locked up.

If Duke doesn't win the ACC Tournament in 2010, Duke doesn't earn a one seed and might not win a national championship.

Duke won the ACC Tournament in 1992, 2001 and 2010 and all three years also went on to win the national title. In 1991, Duke won the national championship after losing in the conference tournament final.

Playing three days in a row in the conference tournament has little to no effect on a team's chances to win in the NCAA Tournament. Duke has proven that notion is a myth.

Where did I say it did?? Look,I'm just saying that not all coaches put all of their emphasis on winning a conference tournament title. If there seed is secured they still coach to win, but they aren't really pissed if they lose.They have a bigger goal in mind.

Where has anyone said that a coach puts ALL their emphasis on it. They play to win, same as every game in the regular season. They are gonna be just as pissed about a loss as any other loss the whole year (save the final loss in NCAA).

Butler beat Wright State easily.

Next they get UW-Milwaukee, who they split with in the regular season. Then they would have to play top-seeded Valpo @ Valpo. And then likely either Detroit or Cleveland State on the road in the championship.

But is anyone gonna bet against them?

Lol, why wouldnt they get upset about losing to a team in the tournament. But 3 weeks before they will get pissed about losing to the same team in the regular season. This makes less and less sense to me.

It is a myth to anyone that played sports or lived in the 18-22 range. 3 days of rest is plenty for basketball, particularly considering that the tournament has only one day between the three rounds.

The funniest part of this whole argument is that it doesn't make any sense to Ahdonis either. He's simply trying to trivialize Duke's ACC championships. That's all this is about and all it ever was about.

The favorites looking good today.

Belmont came back to win.
Wichita State rolled (VERY disappointing season for Indiana State).
Detroit won.
Murray State, Creighton and Harvard are currently winning.

Florida Gulf Coast, the 6 seed in the A-Sun, shocks Mercer and moves on to play Belmont at 15-16 overall.

Similar to last year when North Florida made a surprise run to the title game, and then Belmont beat them by 41 points. Bruins will be dancing again. Going to be a dangerous 13/14 seed.

Butler blasted Milwaukee. Wow. Just lost at Valpo a week ago, another shot at them on Valpo's home floor tomorrow. Upset? Cleveland State/Detroit will be a good game.

Looks like UNC Asheville is going to beat upset-minded VMI. They will be a dangerous 14 seed most likely.

Disappointing, too, because Duggar Baucom's teams play such a thrilling brand of basketball. VMI hasn't had the personnel this year that they have in the past to play that racehorse style, but, when hot, they are a team with a lot of perimeter firepower. Those are usually the most dangerous low seeds in the NCAAs.

Asheville is pretty good, though, so perhaps they can do some work.

I think Asheville is almost definitely a 16 seed unless there are small conference upsets. They could maybe grab a 15 seed over Bucknell, but I doubt it.

Bubble teams everywhere hoping Murray State finishes the deal here.
