I'm a big fan of Arrogant Bastard Ale....best beer on earth. But tonight I tried Smuttynose IPA is about almost as good! This is good shit! If you haven't tried...try it now. This is amazing stuff.

I would guess by the illiteracy of my OP, you can imagine how good the Smuttynose is. I'm half drunk at 5:30 on a Sunday night....

Deschutes has a really good IPA but I don't know if you can get out in Ohio. I discovered it in AZ.

I just find it very unbalanced. Too heavy on the bittering hops. If you told me it was an Extra Special Bitter then it would be damn good.

So do you actually dislike the beer or dislike the beer for what it's labeled as? I think Troegs Nugget Nectar is the perfect example of a label meaning next to nothing; says it's an 'Imperial Amber' but is pretty much an IPA (and better than most IPAs).Curly J;1096707 wrote:I just find it very unbalanced. What it is labeled as for the most part. I just prefer an IPA with a little more of a finish than what Perry delivers. Yeah and sometimes labels can be misleading. Kinda like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is overly hopped for a pale ale when compared to an Anderson Valley Pale Ale. They seem like they are totally different styles.BORIStheCrusher;1096804 wrote:So do you actually dislike the beer or dislike the beer for what it's labeled as? Dumbass non beer-snob question.
Whats the difference in taste between a 60 min and 90 min IPA? Is 90 minute stronger?
I've had Dogfish 60 min and liked it a lot, but never gotten around to trying the 90 minute or the 120.

90 minute is stronger than the 60 minute but isn't overpowering or anything. It's 9%.chicago510;1096911 wrote:Dumbass non beer-snob question.

The 120 minute is stronger in that it's about 18-20% but it isn't really more hoppy in the flavor, it's more sweet because of how much sugar you have to add to achieve that level of alcohol in a beer. 60/90/120 are all excellent though.

I've also tried Tommyknocker tonight. There is some good stuff in this sampler.
Pick Axe IPA - Wonderful
Hop Strike Black IPA - Even more wonderful
Alpine Glacier Pilsner - Wonderful
And also tried a Tap Room No. 21 Amber Ale...that's a wonderful lighter beer.
Nothing has topped the ABA though.

Tommyknocker makes a nice Maple Nut Brown Ale. I had a couple of those earlier in the week.SnotBubbles;1096980 wrote:I've also tried Tommyknocker tonight. There is some good stuff in this sampler.

I drank 2 Yuengling, a 1 pint 6 oz (22 oz) bottle of Arrogant Bastard Ale (7.2% alcohol), a Tap Room 21 and 7 of 12 from the sampler tonight.
That's equivalent to about 20 Bud Lights (I started at 1:30 though).
Fuck you guys...that got me pretty lit, and I'd imagine it would most of you!
