Remember him? Some of you might be to young. Just google him in. Anyway, on Dec. 5th he scored 53 points in an organzied/benefit basketball game at East Knox HS. At 42 years of age he can still hoop it up. To see a short clip of him scoring go to www.websitetelevision.net. Way to go Mr. Burson.

I remember when he signed with the Columbus Horizon (remember them?) after his neck healed and such. I went to the game with my family and he was on the bench and the crowd started chanting his name. BURSON...BURSON...BURSON. Well the coach put him in and he promptly had a couple of turnovers and shot an air ball on his first attempt. When he missed his second attempt the whole crowd started to BOOOOOOO. He was then taken out of the game which I think may have been his last one for the now defunct Horizon.

He was a scoring machine though for OSU and when he broke his neck it was awful.

He provides "Buckeye Basketball Analysis" for the Common Man and the Torg, and I think he sounds horrible in his analysis.

Guess that doesn't mean he can't shoot a basketball though.

Still remember watching him play high school ball when I was very young. I cannot remember the game, but St John Arena in Steubenville was sold out for the game and nearly everyone in attendance was there mostly just to watch him play.

I remember him playing in the State finals in maybe 1983 or 1984. Pure shooter.

I had the joy of playing against him at the New Corncob playground for 8+ years. As impressive as he was in HS and college, watching a 5th grader beat the crap out of the then varsity team over the summer was a sight to behold. ;)

Anyone know why the game he broke the record in was played at Muskingum College, rather than his home gym at John Glenn HS, and why he was in the dark away uniform rather than the whites ? I do, just wondered if the rest of you did...

He was quite possibly lb. for lb. the toughest SOB to ever play for Ohio State hoops. Dude was tough, and the broken neck thing was a heartbreaker!

The bottom line for playing at Muskingum in the away jerseys was that he was supposed to break the record at Philo. Philo's gym is kind of like a meatlocker, in that it's pretty small. As I understood it, since it was to be an away game, no one was OK with moving it back to the JG gymnasium, so the decision was to move it to Muskingum (our old John Glenn gym held somewhere close to 2000 at the college) but Philo was still considered the home team and John Glenn HS had to wear the dark away uniforms. I got to see video of that part of Burson's record breaking game when Diebler broke his record. It was being hosted on the WMFD website, but there's not a copy to be found now. :-/
