This was being reported, but couldn't be confirmed, after that NFC title game in 09 when they beat the piss out of Favre every chance they got.

Drew Brees has got to be licking his chops in a sense right now because the retarded ownership down there was trying to lowball him, and I get the sense right now that desperate for some positive news they might give in and pay him what he wants to change the conversation.

Talk about a bad week for the organization.

First it comes out they consider Brees a "very good" but not "great" QB, and now this.

Goodell is going to take 2 first round picks from them I am expecting to send a crystal clear message because he apparently is livid.

It was suggested that since the Saints do not have a 1st this year that they should take away their franchise tag this year, which would enable Brees to go to the highest bidder....If the NFL would do that ( I dont think they will) It would really put a spin on all these QB scenarios- draft/Peyton Manning /Brees etc

The fact that he was brought up speaks to how dirty he is. Trying to cash in on another team's bounties. Jesus.

No shit. We'll gladly remove the "Frye" from the #9 jersey and welcome him with open arms to Cleveland. :D

Drew Brees brought that franchise back from the dead, and deserves every penny he is asking for. Public opinion is on his side, because the residents of that city remember very well what that team was like before he got there. I suspect most would consider him a "great" and not just "very good" QB.

If the team won't get serious about working out a long term deal that reflects his value, he should hold out until the day before the start of the regular season to stick it to them.

Typically I hate that kind of thing, but he is a good guy who has done everything right and is coming off statistically the greatest passing season in NFL history and a 2nd place finish in the MVP vote.

I don't know what Saints management is trying to do in terms of alienating the franchise's best player, but it is retarded. Hopefully they will now be desperate enough to make all the bad news stop they will buck up and pay him to get some kind of positive vibe going.

Yes, I know he was making a joke. It's been made many times before, and it's retarded. He's a dirty player, therefore he gets fined. QQ some more.

Also, thanks!

As a Saints fan I think this might be the worst week in franchise history. I know they were terrible in the past and lost games, etc. but not paying the face of the franchise what he is worth and now bounty-gate. Brees wants a front-end loaded deal basically for what they offered just more up front. Who cares? Pay him and use the tag on someone else. You want him leading off-season workouts. Bounties happen in more places in the league than just New Orleans but the Saints will be made an example of. Give Brees the deal he wants and shift the momentum back in the positive direction.

If I'm Brees I get the fuck out of New Orleans. I hadn't heard about the "good" not "great" talk from the franchise, but that is asinine.

It's also fun to watch Dungy be proven wrong since he has become such an insufferable self righteous prick since he retired.

Don't let us know what he said or anything...

Also, I thought Ravens players had admitted to having bounties a few years ago?

@RealRClark25: Never in my career has a defensive coach singled out a player and put $ on his head. I've never been offered $ to put a player out of a game

@RealRClark25: Oh & yes u played in Washington for the 04-05 seasons! I play hard because I love football. No $ is enuff to I intentionally harm a peer

@RealRClark25: An I saying a bounty is a good thing? No, but my problem is if you participate & benefit from it you should not rat on others & be set free

@RealRClark25: Funny that all this comes out once Greg Williams leaves for St. Louis? Come in dude. Blow the whistle while it's going on not when he leaves

@RealRClark25: Whoever is snitching on the Saints D should be ashamed of themselves. No one was talking about the "bounty" when they got paid. #shame!

@RealRClark25: I am not saying that "bounties" are ethical or right but I am saying if you participate don't go back & tell on the people u did it with!

Ugh, I hate the "snitches get stitches" attitude.

BTW, looks like the Saints are gonna get ass pounded by the NFL

And the first chip has fallen! This is very exciting. If/when Washington throws a bunch of money at Peyton that leaves Us/Miami for Flynn, and if Flynn goes to Miami, then the bargaining power shifts significantly in our favor in the RGIII lottery.
